Chapter Text

The announcer over the speaker of the subway station didn't usually catch Pixel's attention, and today was no different. He sighed, hands gripping the rail, the usual bustle of the city filling his ears, even over his music.

Wasting your time

His mind thought back to someone important from his life, but not someone who he wanted to name.

You’re wasting mine

He shook his head and watched as a train approached, stopping. He stepped on.

“I hate to see you leaving”

His hand gripped one of the handrails, staring out the train window.

“A fate worse than dying”

A figure, the same figure he dreaded, rested against the barriers blocking the railroad from the platform. They flashed a sharp smile, waving.

Your city gave me asthma

Pixel shook his head again, but she didn’t disappear.

So that’s why I’m fucking leaving

There was a reason he was on the train, it was to get away from her. How’d she find him?

And your water gave me cancer

Pixel stumbled over to a seat and sat down, scrambling to turn on his music again and ignore her.

And the pavement hurt my feelings

He sighed, shifting in his seat and trying to relax. She wasn’t here, it was fine.

Shout at the wall

Someone tapped his shoulder, and he looked over.

‘Cause the walls don’t fucking love you

He looked over, tensing as she appeared beside him.

Shout at the wall

She smiled, green and red eyes twinkling. He tried to keep his breathing steady.

‘Cause the walls don’t fucking love you

The train took off, leaving her behind. His hands turned to fists as he gripped his pants. He was the only one on the train cart.

There’s a reason that London puts barriers on the tube line, there’s a reason that London puts barriers on the rails

He sighed, shutting his eyes and turning up his music.

There’s a reason that London puts barriers on the tube line, there’s a reason that London puts barriers on the rails

Nobody was here. Nobody could hurt him once he was out of the city.

There’s a reason that London puts barriers on the tube line, there’s a reason...

“She failed.”
