Summary
Draco Malfoy served his time fighting for the Union. They say war changes a man and Draco could not agree more. Years after the war though, he has found leaving his lofty life in Upstate New York and trading it for the rough ways of the cattle drive good for the soul. Of course while it might be good for the soul, it doesn't replace the hole in his heart left by his late wife Astoria.
It's fair to say though he had never intended to fill that hole, no, the thousands of mile between him and that heartache was a bandage and he knew it.
He definitely didn't expect to be in charge of the safety of witch who only gets into trouble while also trying to deliver cattle for her father. Hermione Granger had always wanted adventure. Growing up on a large ranch in the heart of Texas had it's advantages, her father had raised her much like a son.
