Earth 1, STAR Labs, just after midnight
"Allen..." At the sound of Harry Wells's voice, Barry, Cisco and Caitlin, the latter wearing her new Killer Frost outfit, her hair still white from the latest session of controlled training she and her newly discovered other meta persona side had just finished working on in their new coordination with each other, came running to where the Earth 2 Wells figure and daughter Jesse, now also Jesse Quick thanks to her newly gained speedster powers, stood before a breach that had opened.
As the Team Flash three and the pair from Earth 2 braced themselves for what or who might come out of it, three streaks of lights, blue, red and orange came zooming out of it and stopped before them, revealing their true forms. And upon seeing the five individuals standing before him and his fellow creatures, the eyes and mouths on the faces of the three Earth 1'ers widening and dropping open in total shock at the sight of them, Sonic's own eyes went wide as he, Tails and Knuckles looked around them.
"Well, it looks like our first interdimensional jump between the infinity of worlds has gone successfully indeed," Knuckles remarked.
"Yup. You could be right, Knucks," Sonic answered.
"Oh. My. God!" an even more mighty shocked than the other four with him Cisco breathed, unable to believe the sight of who was before them, as he walked forward and stood in front of the hedgehog, fox and echidna. "You are... Oh my god, this can't be happening. Guys..." He turned back to Barry, Caitlin and the father and daughter from Earth 2, "I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING."
"Cisco, are they who I think they are?" Barry asked in accordance agreement with his fellow meta. He too couldn't take his eyes off of the three newly arrived visitors.
"They can't be..." Caitlin furthered, breathing out the words.
"Ramon, are you sure you're alright?" Harry asked, he and Jesse confused as to how the three were reacting.
"Harry, Jesse..." Cisco began proclaiming proudly like a shopkeeper or circus ringmaster, gesturing to the trio with his arms, "Meet Sonic, the Hedgehog..." Sonic was first, "Myles Prower, most commonly known as Tails, the two-tailed flying fox..." next was Tails, "And finally, Knuckles, the Echidna..." And lastly came Knuckles, the red Echidna giving a little scowl and growl in typical response. "Stars of one of the most biggest, popular and successful ever video games ever," Cisco finished with, his excitement having not faltered an inch. Barry and Caitlin looked between each other, just the same as Cisco upon the absolute confirmation that what, or rather who, they were witnessing before them was the absolute truth indeed.
"Then it seems Mr West and Wally and Patty certainly weren't kidding when they revealed that to us earlier in the day, it seems," Tails remarked out loud.
At hearing Patty's names, Team Flash tensed, but before any of them could speak Joe and Wally, along with Patty and the rest of the gang from Earth 38, chose that moment to make themselves known, stepping out from the breach behind the three smaller aliens, the breach closing the moment they did so.
"Patty!" Barry gasped aloud in utter relief, the other four with him reacting the very same, and sped forward, gathering Patty into a crushing embrace, she returning it as Barry kissed her full and furiously on the mouth, the Scarlet Speedster holding onto her for as long as he deemed necessary, not wanting to let her go. But eventually, he had to, Cisco, Caitlin, Harry and Jesse giving Patty their own big hugs and congratulating her upon surviving.
At last, Barry took notice of Joe and Wally, Kara and the Earth 38 gang, amongst them the two of whom he hadn't had the pleasure of meeting on his first unexpected visit to Earth 38 a year ago, being Alex and Astra. "Hey, everyone," he greeted them.
"Hey, Barry man," Winn answered as Kara came forward and hugged her Speedster friend, Barry returning it without hesitation considering how strong his friendship with Kara was since their first meet.
"Joe and Wally brought Patty to our Earth," Kara said after they released each other.
"Yeah, I think Tails hinted that just now," Barry nodded.
Kara turned to her fellow aliens, Tails shrugging. "They had to know," he gave in simple response.
At that, Kara gave a shrug and a facial expression of 'Whatever?', then waved to her sister and aunt, the two coming over. "Barry, remember the sister I mentioned the first time you came to my Earth, and the evil aunt I was battling against for a time?" she asked. Barry nodded, remembering full well of course. Kara now turned to Alex. "Alex, Aunt Astra, meet the true version of who I've spoken very much about ever since he ended up on our Earth quite by accident and lent a much needed helping hand against Leslie and Siobhan before he and I inevitably had to say our farewells and send him on his way. Barry Allen, the true Barry Allen at that, also known as the Flash."
Alex held out her hand. "It's a pleasure to at last have the privilege of meeting you for real, Mr Allen," she greeted Barry, "And certainly, regarding what Kara said about that business you needed her help with before Christmas, the Dominators, thank you for breaking her free of the hold those bastards had on her and others of your hero buddies from here."
"Oh, please, I'm just glad to be of service to your sister with our friendship," Barry replied, the two chuckling as they shook hands, before Barry then turned to Astra. "I take it that, going on that you're here with Kara and all the rest, and not in a holding cell at the DEO as she mentioned you were the last time, that she's given you a second chance of being the sort of person any family relative deserves to be in the eyes of their other relations, huh, Miss Astra?"
"General Astra, if you please, Mr Allen," Astra corrected Barry, but not crossly, "And yes, you would be correct. It's taken a long time for me to make up for everything I did toward my niece and her close band during her first days and months as National City's hero guardian in red and blue, including when I was in league with my former and now very thankfully dead monstrous husband Non in doing so, Non not giving a damn what he did as long he got things his way, including hurting innocent Earth inhabitants and my niece to do so, but now..." She and the Danvers sisters turned to each other, "Thanks to these two, through different ways to do so, I've earned what I lost for myself originally thanks to the person I was before." Now they exchanged smiles.
"Until someone unexpectedly pulls the trigger which sends you swiftly down the wrong path again, Aunt in General," Knuckles' voice spoke, he and Sonic and Tails having appeared at Astra's side without them being noticed.
Astra looked down at him. "You sure that person won't be you, Echidna, with how you're constantly unable to distinguish general facts from humour?" That earned laughs from Kara, Alex, Sonic and Tails, Knuckles giving his usual scowling expression himself, as all the rest now came over, Barry and Kara leading the general introductions to Cisco, Caitlin, Harry and Jesse on who each of the other Earth 38'ers were, and of course, when it came to more proper introductions with the trio of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, the two Earth 1 metas and Earth 2 pair all gasped at the huge strength of Knuckle's powerful grip alone when he did handshakes with them, shaking and curling and uncurling their fingers to get the blood flowing again.
"By the way, where's Mon-El?" Cisco pointed out, having noticed that the Daxamite man wasn't with them.
At that, pained expressions came over the majority of the National City gang, especially Kara, which didn't go unnoticed by the Earth 1'ers and the father and daughter from Earth 2, making them realize that something terrible had obviously happened. "It's a... long story," Kara finally gave in simple answer, the rest of her group each giving her a reassuring squeeze of the arm or rub on the back which she didn't resist towards. Barry and his group decided not to press the matter and wait for the others to explain in their own good time.
"But at least, Barr..." Wally spoke, changing the subject back to the day's dramatic but incredible events, "Sonic, Tails and Knuckles helped Kara and the rest here..." he gestured to their new friends, "...gloriously took down Savitar like he was a joke."
A still in awe Joe nodded. "They did, Barr," he confirmed, Barry, Cisco, Caitlin, Harry and Jesse's eyes going wide.
"Really?" Barry asked.
Winn now grinned and brought out the mobile phone he had brought over from Earth 38 out of his trouser pocket. "Perhaps it'll be better if you saw it for yourself on tape rather than needing a long boring explanation from our mouths, eh, Barry?" he said teasingly.
"He's right, Non Pizza Crust Faced Barry," Sonic added with his own mischievous facial expression, "You'd be better off witnessing it for yaself on the screen than simple words." Joe, Wally and Patty all nodded too in support.
Barry exchanged puzzled looks with Cisco, Caitlin, Harry and Jesse, they too just as curious and wanting to know just what Winn and Sonic meant by. Then Barry shrugged. "Show us," he said.
A few minutes later, Barry, Cisco, Caitlin, Harry and Jesse were trying very hard to stop themselves from falling to the floor of the Cortex area of STAR Labs, all of them doubled over or bent backwards in total hysterics after having watched via the computer screens, and thanks of course to Winn's phone, the different camera angled shots taken of the Earth 38'ers doing their song and dance performance to The Wiggles' Crocodile Hunter tune in front of the imprisoned and now very erased indeed Savitar.
"I should tear you lot to shreds for leaving us outta witnessing this absolute cinematic level moment you did to Mr Pizza Crust Face in time for his erasure," Cisco finally managed to say to Team Supergirl's members and Sonic, Tails and Knuckles as his tearful laughter came under control, the group from Earth 38, apart from Knuckles who maintained his typical serious expressioned silence, having also been unable to join in the laughter themselves at seeing their own performance on-screen.
"Well, don't forget, Cisco, we couldn't exactly tell you and Barr and the rest about where we were taking Patty, due to who exactly it was we've been facing beforehand until now no longer," Joe reminded.
"I know, but still..." Cisco shook his head, "I would've given just about anything to be there when the big moment happened, if only just to give the delusionist a little wave and ribbled remark before erasure overcame him."
"Cisco..." Caitlin replied, everyone chuckling again at that.
"So, not that it ain't a pleasure to have those of you lot who haven't at all yet visited our Earth until just now, but I take it you didn't just come here to escort Patty home to us, right?" Barry asked the National City team and the hedgehog, fox and echidna trio.
"You would be correct in your assumption, Son of Allen," Knuckles answered, turning to Sonic, "The hedgehog here, before we bid our temporary farewell to our home world, had the idea of coming here to challenge you in a race to see who was the fastest between us in a straight run."
"Yes, I was gonna reveal that in good time, you know, pal," Sonic replied back with.
Apart from Joe, Patty and Wally who had already heard it, the rest of Team Flash all raised an eyebrow in response to what Knuckles had said. "Really?" Harry responded, "And what makes you so sure you'll be able to best Allen in a run?"
"Well, his deluded in the mind and head maniac doppelganger couldn't at all match us when we had him behind us, Mr Wells," Sonic answered with a grin, Tails nodding in agreement, "And whenever we..." he gestured briefly between himself and his fellow creatures with a hand gesture, "...have fun raced Kara in our spare time, we've always proven time and again who exactly is the fastest between us."
"They always leave me in the dust, Barry," Kara spoke next, "I can never keep up with them, no matter how fast and far I push myself in flight, Sonic and Tails and Knuckles always reach the finish line before me every time we do a race between us." She and the other human members of her group all chuckled at that.
"Whereas when it comes to Clark, Kara's supposed to be properly younger cousin..." Tails added, chuckles again coming from the rest of the Earth 38 group at that, "We barely even get past the starting line before he comes zooming right back again as if he ain't moved at all.
"Like that, basically," Sonic agreed, giving a right finger snap to emphasize the point, "That's how fast he goes."
Barry and Cisco gave short whistles at that. "And now I suppose you wanna know how fast Barr, the real Barr, does against you lot, huh?" Cisco asked.
"That is correct, Ramone of Vibes," Knuckles answered, in typical way of doing so.
"But what of Wally? After all, he's now one of us," Jesse at last spoke up, referring of course to herself and the two speedster boys with the second sentence, "And how's about me? Are you gonna leave me out of such an event as what you've been saying about?"
"I believe we were under the impression that the true speedster of this Earth is the one who's been the longer of the two before the youngster gained his own fast speed, young Wells offspring," Knuckles answered Jesse's questions.
At the quizzical looks on Harry and Jesse's faces at Knuckles' typical way of answer giving, Sonic stepped in. "Sorry, still has a lot to learn still in terms of adjusting to how things are on Earth, a Earth that is, including the language ways and barriers," he said, Knuckles giving him a usual expression.
"But they are correct in a sense, Jesse," Joe now said. He turned to his own son, "Sorry, Wall, but Barry has been the Central City speedster over two years more than you have for only a few months." Then he looked back to Jesse, "Same with you, Jesse. After all, you've only become who you are now as a speedster thanks to what happened to you and Wall that night we attempted to give Barry back his Zoom stolen speed last year via the particle accelerator."
"So in effect, you two aren't at the same levels as Barry yet, and certainly not even at how fast Kara and our three live action video games character versions here..." Patty went next, nodding to Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, "...can go, with what they've either shared about to us or demonstrated fully when they were keeping me safe and away from Savitar's grasp."
"Joe and Spivott are correct, so's Knuckles," Harry said in further agreement. When Jesse turned to him, her mouth opening as she prepared to argue back, her father shook her head and went on before she could do so, "They both do speak the absolute truth, Jesse." He looked over to Wally, "Same goes with you, young West. You weren't even around here in Central City when Allen first became the Flash, were you, same going with when I first came over myself during the Zoom business."
"And as has also pointed out rightly so, Wally, t'was only thanks to what Mr Brown Haired Draco Malfoy version did to you as Doc Alchemy that you gained your Flashpoint persona and are who you are now," Cisco finished with, referring obviously to Julian Randal and his Harry Potter movie face copy self.
Barry and Caitlin nodded. "They all speak the truth, you two," Caitlin said to Wally and Jesse together.
"So..." Kara spoke again, looking with great hopeful anticipation to her Earth 1 speedster friend, "Are you up for this, Barry? The chance to at least see what Sonic and the other two mean by being the ones who're unbeatable every time they and I race each other back home, even if you'll inevitably be the same as me in it?"
"And it ain't just that, Barry," a once more equally as hugely excited Sonic said, holding up the bag containing his portal rings, "Thanks to what I always carry very preciously on my person in this little pouch, there may just be other places out there in the multiverse's infinite vastness you might love to visit and see if there are other individuals out there who bear powers like ours or Kara's for us to take up the challenge of a race to see who comes out on top between us."
Barry now had even more wonder on his face as he took in all this, but eventually he looked to Kara. "I suppose I don't really have much choice in the matter, do I, eh, Kara?" he remarked humouredly.
Kara shook her head. "Nope," she chuckled.
Finally, Barry shrugged and turned to the hedgehog, fox and echidna, who waited with hopeful expectation on their faces. "You're on," he gave in simple answer, Sonic and Tails both giving a "Yahoo" and double high-fiving each other, Knuckles saying "A very wise decision, Central City guardian" and squeeze crushing Barry's hand in another handshake.
"But before we do that, Barry, I think there's another something, or rather another certain someone, we should help you out with," Kara said, her voice and face suddenly very serious, arms folding across her chest, "One who I believe, from what Joe and Patty and Wally shared with us earlier on, has plagued you, as well as Cisco and Caitlin and also Oliver and his team buddies in Star City, even more in life than any other individual you've all ever faced, especially you yourself even more than everyone else."
"Who, Kara?" Barry asked.
"The man I believe you all know..." Kara paused for effect, then finished the sentence, "As Eobard Thawne."
At the single name, perfect silence followed. Even the machines in the room seemed to have stopped. The last two words from Kara's mouth seemed to have had a paralyzing effect on the rest of Team Flash and the father and daughter pair from Earth 2.
"Thawne," Barry at last spat through tightly clenched teeth, his upper body heaving with barely contained deep hatred, hands curling and fingers digging into his palms, eyes blazing like fire.
"I take it that this guy's not exactly been in your good books for quite a while, eh, Barry?" Lucy asked.
"You have absolutely no idea, Lucy," the Scarlet Speedster hissed. And now, backed by the rest of Team Flash, Barry gave Team Supergirl and the Trio everything they needed to know in terms of the more expert facts about how much the man known as the Reverse Flash had sickeningly influenced his and the lives of their fellow Earth 1 heroes, starting from the night of the murder of his mother Nora Allen seventeen years ago and his father's wrongful imprisonment for it thanks to Thawne being the one, right up to the last time he and Thawne had seen each other after Barry had had to beg him to kill his mother all over again after Barry had done the gigantic mistake of creating Flashpoint.
When he had finished, the heads of the Earth 38'ers shook at the enormity of the facts they had just learned, the faces of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles and Kara showing looks of utmost contempt and fury more than the rest.
"What a bastard," Winn said.
"And I thought Non was monstrous enough," Astra growled, "But this son-of-a-bitch Thawne sure as hell surpasses him in every aspect of that."
"You have no idea, Auntie Astra," Cisco agreed, raising his hands apologetically at the look Astra gave him in response to his use of her name.
"And now you want to help deal with him, eh, Kara?" Barry asked his Kryptonian friend.
Kara moved closer and lay a hand on his arm. "After keeping Patty safe from your delusional maniacal scarred faced doppelganger version, it's only fair that we return the favour for you, Barry," she told him, "By ridding you once again of the man who ruined your life and that of everyone else in your ring of hero buddies on this Earth for so long, and who continuously keeps on returning like a plague that just won't die."
"But no more," Knuckle spoke, "It's time to stamp out this yellow coloured disease of an individual once and for all."
"I can third that," Sonic agreed.
"Aye," Tails furthered it.
"But how can we? I mean, we don't even know whereabouts Thawne could even be. God knows just where he is right now in space and time," Caitlin pointed out.
"Well in answer to that, Ms Killer Frosty..." Sonic said, grinning mischievously at the look she gave him at that as he brought out one of his rings and held it up for all to see, "These rings aren't just a way for all advanced persons, like me, to travel between worlds. For them and you to do so, you activate one by throwing it and imagining your desired location, and when that happens it opens up to whereabouts you desire to go."
"So what exactly are you saying, hedgehog?" Harry put in.
"It means, Dr Wells, that if Barry uses one and desires his wish to know whereabouts old Eobard currently is at this moment..." Sonic turned to Barry, "It will bring the Man in Yellow to him. To us." He now returned the ring to his bag.
Now Barry was more intently interested than he had been before. "And you're sure it can do that, Sonic?" he asked the little blue hedgehog.
"If the hedgehog speaks what he does, Son of Allen, it is the absolute truth," Knuckles answered for Sonic.
"Let's help you end this guy once and for all, Barry," Tails agreed, his and Sonic and Knuckles' faces showing absolute determination.
A cough from Wally drew their attention, as he and Jesse walked forwards. "Would you object if me and Jesse help you and Kara and our three live action versioners from the Sonic video games with this matter, Barr?" Wally asked.
"It's the very least we could do if we can't go fun racing with you guys across the multiverse," Jesse agreed.
Barry considered, then turned to the red echidna. "D'you think that's acceptable enough in your books, Knuckles?" he asked.
Knuckles too considered, then eventually answered with, "I think the less experienced youngsters could be allowed the pleasure of a big lesson indeed on the matter at hand with the fast man in yellow."
"Hey, we heard that," Jesse responded indignantly as everyone else chuckled at Knuckles' typical way of speech giving.
"Suit up," Barry now told her and Wally.
"So if I just throw this, and picture where I wish for it to open, it should bring Thawne to us, right, Sonic?" Barry, now clad in his Flash suit, asked. He, Kara, a suited up Wally and Jesse, and of course Sonic, Tails and Knuckles now stood on a deserted Central City road, Barry holding up one of Sonic's rings in his right hand.
"Exactly," Sonic confirmed.
"Let's find this guy, Barry," Jesse said.
A steely determination filled expressioned Barry nodded, now looking ahead. "Where are you, Eobard?" he remarked, fully concentrating in the mind as to what he desired, as he pulled back his arm and then threw the ring forwards, the little gold jewel spinning through the air before then expanding into a large gold rimmed portal, the group of seven seeing what looked like a grassy field in daylight through the circular gap...
The Somme, 1916 (the moment, in the LOT season 2 finale, after old Eobard has attempted and failed to rewrite reality again)
The stunned look on Thawne's face was priceless when he opened his eyes and realized nothing was happening around him. "I may've made one small change to reality," Sara smirked at seeing his expression.
He scowled, glaring at her, "You depowered the Spear." Sara lifted her head proudly as Thawne sneered darkly. "Well, I guess we'll just have to do this the old fashioned way," he said, raising the Spear and aiming it towards Sara, "I am going to drive this through your heart."
But then, before he could even make a move on her, an inhuman roar sounded out, Thawne freezing where he was, face now overcome with sheer horror at just what it had to be, eyes widening at the realization of his own self carelessness. For in his haste to chase the Legends back to 1916 after they had escaped from the world he and the Legion of Doom had created in the present using the Spear, he had forgotten and left behind his special pager which always warned him of whenever the Speed Force's monstrous zombie speedster guardian was nearby, so telling him to flee to the next place in time and space to avoid its grasp. But now...
"Yeah, about that..." Sara's smirk widened, as the Black Flash itself now arrived in a flash of red lightning on the horizon, emitting a loud roar.
"No..." Thawne breathed, face drained of colour, and prepared to once again flee for his life. But then, both he and Sara received a great shock when right beside them, and which temporarily obscured the Black Flash from their view, some sort of portal, a large gold rimmed circle, opened up, revealing beyond the high rise building and street lights of a nighttime city.
Gaping at it for a moment, Sara doing the same, but then without any further hesitation, Thawne, taking advantage of this extremely unexpected gateway to possible escape from the monstrous speedster that had once again managed to catchup with him, and still clutching the now useless Spear of Destiny in his hand, sped through, the portal vanishing as soon as he had done so, leaving a still immensely shocked Sara where she was on the Somme battlefield.
All around her, Thawne's other selves began fading out of existence, but then suddenly her view was obscured by the horrific rotted flesh scarred face of the Black Flash, revealed thanks to the left side of his cowl having been torn off at some time before. It roared once right in her face, and then sped off and vanished out of sight, as it once again set off in pursuit of its elusive quarry.
"What on Earth just happened?" Sara breathed quietly to herself, the foul breath of the zombie speedster monster in her nose, the Legends captain referring to what had just happened moments before with the appearance of the portal which allowed Thawne to escape her and the Black Flash again, as her teammates and future self began getting back onto their feet and gather around her.
Running through the portal, which retracted once more into a normal gold ring the moment he did so, the little jewel falling to the tarmac with a tinkle, Thawne, still tightly gripping the Spear in his right hand, immediately halted where he was at the sight of the seven individuals who stood on the road before him, one of them being...
"Flash," Thawne roared, his whole body now heaving, teeth clenched so tightly he wondered how miraculously it was they weren't breaking, as the very sight of his lifelong enemy, the Scarlet Speedster of Central City, which was no doubt the very place he had just arrived in, caused the Reverse Flash man's centuries long hatred for his opposite version to course through his entire body and soul like molten lava, his very veins almost boiling and bubbling with it, his eyes blazing with speedforce lightning.
Barry, the very same amount of hatred overcoming him again at the sight of Thawne, even more so as he thought back again to their last meeting, stepped forward. "Time to finish where we left off with Flashpoint, Thawne," he spat.
Kara, she herself equally as sickened at the sight of the Reverse Flash despite this being the very first ever time of seeing him properly, now stepped beside her friend, while behind her Jesse, Wally, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, they too feeling the very same way at seeing Thawne before them, readied themselves. "You made Barry beg you to kill his mother Nora Allen all over again using your sick way of making him do so when he had to correct what he'd wrongly done with Flashpoint, Eobard Thawne," she snarled, jabbing her right index finger in his direction, "And you've plagued his life and those of his family and fellow heroes ever since that fateful night seventeen years ago. But now..." she paused for effect, enjoying the look on Thawne's face as she spoke, "I, we, are here to help him end your blighted existence from the face of the multiverse once more."
"There is nowhere, absolutely nowhere, in all of time Barry will ever be safe from me, Supergirl," Thawne snarled back, at the same time hurling the depowered Spear aside. Taking full note of Kara's absolute shock, and when Barry and the others turned to her with equal mega shock on their faces, Thawne's anger calmed a little as he laughed. "Yes, I know very well who you are. Kara Zor-El aka Kara Danvers, the last daughter of Krypton, daughter of Zor-El and Alura, cousin of Superman aka Kal-El," he proclaimed.
"How..." Kara breathed, unable to believe that the Reverse Flash could possibly know about her indeed.
"It doesn't matter," Barry spoke again, his own defiance still showing to its fullest extent as he now slowly walked step by step towards Thawne, Kara following him in perfect side by side synchronisation, the other five behind them following at the same pace. "It doesn't matter what you know. It doesn't matter where you go. It doesn't matter what you do, Eobard," Barry listed as they inched closer to the Reverse Flash, "It doesn't matter that you have made it your life's mission to destroy me. Because in all that time, in all these years, you have missed the obvious."
Thawne's returned rage only increased even more with each word spoken. "And what is that, Flash?" he demanded.
"You became the Reverse Flash to become my enemy." And now, Barry delivered the final coup de grace, "Without me, Thawne, you are quite literally nothing, nothing. That's who you are."
"Unlike you, Running Man in Yellow, the hedgehog, fox and I made a vow to use our powers to keep the universe, and this world, our home, safe," Knuckles growled menacingly, speaking himself at last.
"We don't use our powers to run away or to harm people," Sonic declared in extreme determination to Thawne, "We use them to protect our friends."
It was all too much at last for Thawne. "No," he erupted in denial, his body emitting sparks of red lightning, "NO! I am always better than you. I am the one thing you cannot stop, Flash. This time, I will destroy you once and for all. All of you."
"It doesn't matter how fast you are," Barry stated, "You'll never beat all seven of us at the same time."
"Oh, I can't? Trust me. This, this is gonna be fun," Thawne sneered, reaching back and pulling his cowl up over his face, his whole body immediately becoming a blur, his eyes glowing red. "Let's finish this, Flash," he challenged. And with that, the ultimate battle began.
As Kara and Tails took off into the air and hovered above side by side, Tails also drawing his laser gun ready to use it if need be, Barry and Thawne rushed at each other, fighting in superspeed, while all that everyone else, Wally and Jesse and Sonic and Knuckles on the ground, and Kara and Tails in the air, saw were red and yellow circles of lightning.
"Come on, Barry, move," Jesse said, she and the other three with her bracing themselves for when they would have a clear shot.
"Let us take a shot at him," Sonic added.
Thawne pinned Barry against a dumpster, creating a large dent in the metal rubbish container as he did so, before Thawne then hurled Barry through a shop window, the glass shattering as Barry crashed to the floor. That gave Tails the chance to fire an energy shot at Thawne, hitting the Reverse Flash man in the chest and staggering him back a few steps.
"Come on, Thawne. Put up ya dukes and take ya best shot," Tails challenged, "You ain't gonna best us that easily."
"You think so, fox?" Thawne answered back, and raised his right arm and spun it around, creating a cyclone which struck and sent Tails flying through the air.
"Tails!" Kara and Sonic both shouted, the Kryptonian setting off after her furry two-tailed friend. And at that moment, Knuckles made the first move, leaping up and forwards towards Thawne. Thawne sensed his approach and turned round, but wasn't fast enough to avoid the rock hard punch which Knuckles landed fully on him, his boxing gloved encased fist impacting Thawne straight in the chest, throwing Thawne off his feet and backwards quite a few feet before he landed on the tarmac, rolling a few times before pulling himself to his knees.
"You don't mess with family, Man in Yellow," Knuckles growled.
"I'm always the faster of any of you," Thawne smirked arrogantly.
"Let us see," Jesse said, and sped forwards, only for Thawne, to the shock of everyone, including a just recovered Barry, to grab her by her throat as she came up to him and speed off with her, Barry and Wally both shouting "Jesse!" as Sonic and Knuckles raced off after Thawne, the two metahuman speedsters doing the same following after the hedgehog and echidna.
High above, Tails was about to hit a building, but just in time Kara arrived and grabbed him before he could do so, Tails bringing his own flight momentum back under control as he recovered from the force of which Thawne's wind power had sent him through the air at.
"You OK?" Kara asked.
Tails nodded, face set in grim determination as he held up his laser gun. "Let's get after him," he said, Kara nodding, as they zoomed off to find their friends.
Meanwhile, Thawne sped through the city, still keeping a tight hold of Jesse by the throat until he then hurled her violently forwards, Jesse impacting and rolling over on the tarmac, only for Thawne to then seize her again, this time by the back of her suit, and perform the same thing he had just done, this time sending her against the side of a building, Jesse gasping from the impact as she slid again to the ground, wondering if her back was broken.
"You have spirit, young Jesse Quick," Thawne sneered, "But you'll never be as masterful as me." And before Jesse could respond with an answer or even move, Thawne sped up to her and grabbed her right ankle, returning to the spot where he'd stopped at and, still gripping Jesse's ankle, spun her around and hurled her against another building. This time though, before Jesse could complete her descent to the ground again, Thawne sped forward and gave her a powerful speed powered upper cut to the chest, sending the young speedster woman rocketing high into the air, Thawne speeding up the wall and catching up with her as they approached the roof, grabbing her and taking her onto the roof itself and throwing her against a structure on there. And as Jesse impacted against it, Thawne once again seized and held her up by the front of her suit with his left hand, then punched her powerfully with his right, Jesse sent back over the roof and down to the ground below.
There she lay, utterly winded and almost unconscious, sure that every bone in her body must be broken, before she managed, with what strength she had left, to roll and prop herself against the side of the building, as Thawne arrived once again.
"I told you this isn't your fight, Jesse Quick," he said, holding out his vibrating right hand, aiming it towards her chest.
Then Knuckles, curled up in a spinning ball, impacted Thawne from the side, propelling him away from Jesse, the red echidna, with Sonic and Barry in tow, following after him, as now Wally arrived. "Jesse," he exclaimed, his face full of utmost alarm and concern as he began looking and checking the young Earth 2 speedster girl over, "Jesse, talk to me. Are you OK?"
"Yeah," Jesse managed to groan, still feeling the sheer pain from the immense blows Thawne had inflicted on her.
Meanwhile, an angry Barry, flanked by Sonic and Knuckles, Tails and Kara staying hovering above, faced Thawne on the open road.
"You'll pay for that, Thawne," Barry hissed.
"Let's see if you fair against us in a straight run, Eobard," Sonic challenged Thawne, "See how you do against the alien hedgehog, fox and echidna who can best National City's guardian herself in a race."
"No one can ever get the better of me, hedgehog," Thawne spat.
"Let us see, Thawne," Kara answered defiantly.
"On your marks..." Sonic said, he and the rest turning a hundred and eighty degrees to face the other way, "Get set..." they made themselves ready into starting positions, "And... go." And with that, they were off, Sonic and Knuckles in the lead with Tails descending a little so that he flew next to Sonic, Thawne successfully keeping in pace with them, Barry right behind him, Kara bringing up the rear.
"Man, this guy really is much more of an experienced than Mr Pizza Crust Face with the suit of armour," Sonic remarked as they zoomed through Central City, "He's literally breathing down our necks."
"Well I suppose that's what you can do when you're the longterm arch nemesis of your opposite counterpart," Tails pointed out.
"Let's see how he does when following us through your rings, hedgehog," Knuckles suggested.
"Exactly, Knucks," Sonic agreed, pulling out one of his rings and holding up, then threw it forwards, the ring expanding and enlarging into a portal...
Earth 63, graveyard in Manhattan (in a VERY certain TV episode indeed)
"Amy. Come see this," Rory beckoned to his wife, as he stared in confusion at a gravestone that seemed to have his own name on it.
"What?" Amy asked.
"There's a gravestone here for someone with the same name as me," Rory explained.
"What?" Amy responded, thinking Rory must be kidding somehow.
But then, their attention was drawn by the sudden materialization of a large gold rimmed circle, clearly some sort of portal, to Rory's left, he and an equally as stunned Amy having only a few moments to register it before straight out of it zoomed three fast blurs, one blue, a second orange and the third, followed right behind by two men dressed in yellow and red outfits trailing lightning of the same colours, before finally a blue dressed blonde haired female figure with a red cape flying out behind her came through, the Ponds blown off their feet by the force of wind from the first three, the portal vanishing as did the six whatevers that had just come through it.
"What on Earth was all that?!" Rory gasped, unable to fully take in at first what had just happened.
"Search me, Rory love," Amy answered, feeling the same as her husband, as the Doctor and River came hurrying out of the TARDIS.
"Mother, father, are you alright?" River asked, face full of concern.
"We just picked up some strange signal..." the Doctor began, and then broke off, eyes widening. "Come here. Get away from that Angel," he ordered frantically, Amy and Rory doing so.
"What Angel?" Rory asked, but then saw what the Doctor meant as they all looked upon a small stone Angel, its left arm pointing outwards. And as they did so, Rory then realized, with a sense of utter horror at just what it had to be, he been standing right in front of it just before the portal and the six super-fast moving individuals who had come racing out of it had all appeared, and if that very unexpected event hadn't just happened...
The Doctor scanned it with his sonic screwdriver. "A survivor. Very weak, but keep your eyes on it," he said.
Earth 92 (a VERY certain BTVS season 6 episode's ending)
"Buffy." Buffy and Xander broke off their hug at the sound of the voice, as Andrew marched briskly in. "You think you could just do that to me? You think I'd let you just get away with that?" he ranted, then laughed madly, finishing with "Think again" and raised the gun he was holding, preparing to fire and kill Buffy with it.
Only to then pause at seeing the amplified looks of astonishment on Buffy and Xander's faces, both of them looking behind Andrew, the confused young man turning to see what it was and gape opened mouthed at the gold rimmed portal that had appeared out of nowhere in front of them. Upon seeing the figures of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles approaching the gateway at superspeed, Andrew yelled in fright and turned to run, but never made it as, watched by a still mighty astounded Buffy and Xander, the hedgehog, fox and echidna came zooming out first, managing to avoid Andrew, Thawne and Barry following them moments later, and lastly came Kara, she colliding with Andrew full on and knocking him to the ground, the gun falling out of his hand, Kara calling out a "Sorry" as she and the five super-speeders disappeared, the portal doing the same.
Andrew wailed pathetically like a baby, his bodily bones all broken from Kara ramming into him, the two Scoobies and Tara and Willow, the two witch lovers having just arrived on the scene too late to have witnessed what the other two had just done, looking to one another for any possible explanation. "What the hell did we just witness?" Xander asked.
"Search me," Buffy simply gave in answer, she and the other three never to know that the totally sudden occurring events of the last few seconds had just prevented a heart shattering thing from ever happening.
Earth 100, Polis
Seeing the gun in Titus's left hand, Clarke Griffin straightened up from where she was in front of a tied up and gagged John Murphy and raised her own hands. "Titus, what is this about?" she asked the Flamekeeper.
"I'm sorry it had to come to this, Clarke. Truly I am," Titus said regretfully.
"Look. I'm leaving right now. Octavia's waiting for me. Just let me take Murphy, and we'll go," Clarke pleaded.
"Wish I could," Titus said, raising his gun, "Lexa would never execute her duty while you live."
"Hey. Titus, think. She's gonna know it was you," Clarke pressed, trying to talk him down.
Titus however gestured with the gun to Murphy. "She'll think it was him, Skaikru weapon in the hands of a Skaikru thief," he said, voice tone rising, "She might even be angry enough to declare war!" And with that, he fired the gun, Clarke ducking as it ricocheted off the bed frame. She kept low as Titus fired again, the vase on the bedside table with the lit candles around it disintegrating as it was hit, Clarke throwing a chair at him and causing him to fall to the floor as she made for the chamber door, needing to get out and warn Lexa.
But then as Titus drew himself up a little and aimed at Clarke again, a gold rimmed portal opened right in front of Clarke, she and a stunned Titus, as well as a just arrived Lexa, who had heard the commotion in the room and come hurrying in to see what the hell was going on, and a wide eyed Murphy freezing in place. And a moment later, the blue, orange and red blurs of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles zoomed through and went crashing through the far wall, the red and yellow lightning blurs of Thawne and Barry following and exiting through the large hole left by the other three, Kara then doing the same herself, the portal vanishing as they did too, leaving behind four very stunned lost for words individuals from Skaikru and Trikru in their wake.
"What the..." Titus gasped.
"Explain to me just what the hell has been going on here just now," Lexa at last demanded, she and Clarke never to know just how extremely close they had become to being separated from each other forever by a single ill intent from Titus.
Earth 2007, 4 million years ago, Pliocene Period era Africa
"Whatever you do, humanity will find a way to evolve. You can't fight nature!" Danny Quinn proclaimed defiantly to the megalomaniacal totally psychopathic in nature bitch Helen Cutter from where he stood on the ground below.
"You sound just like Nick," Helen said sneeringly from her clifftop position above him, "And you know what? You're both wrong." Danny seethed as Helen, adding "Goodbye, Danny", began reaching into her bag for her gun.
But then, both of their attention was drawn by the emergence of a large golden rimmed circle right behind Helen, some sort of portal of completely unknown origin to the two modern day humans. Helen though never had the chance to comprehend just what it was before Sonic, Tails and Knuckles on either side as usual, came racing through and out, the blue hedgehog barreling straight into Helen and propelling her back and over the edge, Helen screaming as she fell, Danny scrambling back as she impacted the ground below and lay still, the three aliens, followed right behind by Barry and Thawne and then Kara disappearing up and over the hills on the other side.
Danny carefully approached Helen's lifeless body, turning her over onto her back and checking that she really was dead, and finding that she was, he breathed an immense sigh of relief, looking up again at the clifftop where the portal, now gone, had emerged. "Thanks, boys," he said to himself. But then relief and happiness at Helen's much welcomed demise turned to shock as a raptor, clearly having followed Danny through the anomaly Helen had opened in the Cretaceous Period on her journey to here, then appeared, appeared there, peering down at Danny and giving a small roar.
"Well, bit of a new situation now," Danny muttered.
Earth 1, Egypt
"Are we ever gonna shake this guy Thawne off our backs?" Tails asked as they took yet another ring portal through to the Sahara desert where the Great Pyramids and Sphinx of Giza stood, Sonic remembering back to when he and Dr Robotnik each other to the same location on their Earth.
"Allow me, Tails," Kara said as she finally took action, increasing her flight speed while at the same time pulling back her right arm, and then punched Thawne full in the back, propelling him forward off his feet and through the air at fantastic speed where he crashed against one of the Pyramids, Barry and the Earth 38'ers halting.
"How's that for your first experience of Kryptonian super-strength, eh, Eobard?" Kara called out smugly.
"Bet that must be giving you tremendous back ache right now, Man in Yellow," Knuckles added, the rest laughing.
At that, the rage and hatred within him having only increased all the more at how the alien hedgehog, fox and echidna had been able to keep just ahead of him in their run, and also at now having just experienced Kara's powers for himself for the first time, Thawne was back on his feet and zooming back straight at them. But Kara made the first move, stepping out in front of Barry and the other three as, after first remarking "Get a load of this, Reverse Flash", she blew a big puff of freeze-breath from her mouth, Thawne unable to speed out of the way in time as he was hit full on by the cold blast, encasing him in a block of ice which thickened more as Kara kept it up before at last letting up, leaving Thawne fully sealed in an extremely thickened cold block.
Kara turned back to her fellow racers. "How was that then for racing your evil counterpart in a hopping between other worlds run, eh, Barry?" she asked her friend with a mischievous grin, "Cos that's exactly what we no doubt must've done just now thanks to where Sonic's ring portals took us.
"Never thought I'd see the moment anyone was able to best Thawne so successfully as what you've just done, that's for sure, Kara," Barry said in awed agreement, "And yes, sure was something indeed.
"Cold wins the day, Super," Knuckles cheered, Sonic and Tails both giving a "Yahoo" and jumping and punching the air with a fist.
But their joyful mood was extinguished as they heard the unmistakable sound of ice cracking, and they all looked again to the ice block Kara had just entrapped Thawne in, only to see it shaking and vibrating, the cracks on its surface increasing as it now glowed red on the inside. Until finally, Thawne burst out of it, arms out wide as he did, the pieces of ice immediately melting as they hit the desert sand.
"Oh great. Cold didn't keep him down after all," Sonic groaned.
"Very clever, daughter of Krypton," Thawne addressed Kara, "But you forget. I am the Reverse Flash. Nothing ever stops me in my quest to best the Flash as the ultimate speedster. Not even your super powers. I always win in the end."
"Then let's finish this between us, man to man, speedster to speedster, once and for all, Thawne," Barry snarled, turning to Sonic. "D'you have plenty more of those rings of yours, Sonic?" he asked.
Sonic nodded, pulling another out of his bag and throwing it to Barry. "Go get 'im, Barry," he said in encouraging support, Kara, Tails and Knuckles nodding too.
And with that, Barry began running round and around Thawne in a yellow lightning circle, creating a huge sandstorm shaped like a wind funnel which spun and whirled skywards, temporarily blinding Thawne's sight of Barry, together with the Earth 38'ers, before they then did see Barry racing up the side of one of the Pyramids. Doing so, Thawne was immediately after him yet again, Kara, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles watching and praying as Barry, with Thawne right behind about to overtake him, threw the ring given to him, which opened into a portal above the very tip of the Pyramid, the Flash and his Reverse counterpart entering it neck and neck with each other...
Central City
Wally and Jesse, the Earth 2 speedster girl leaning on Wally for support as she recovered from the pain of Thawne's earlier blows, her right arm around his shoulders, saw the portal appear, and the red and yellow lightning figures of Barry and Thawne come speeding out of it, not stopping even as they passed the other two.
Wally turned to Jesse. "You sure you're feeling up for this?" he asked her.
Jesse nodded. "Let's end this son-of-a-bitch," she declared, releasing her supporting hold of Wally. And with that, they were off after their mentor and friend and his arch nemesis, just as the four from Earth 38 arrived back themselves too.
Meanwhile, Barry and Thawne chased each other into the football stadium they had had their first fight with each other at Christmas three years ago, Thawne once more activating the stadium's lights as he and Barry faced each other across the playing field, Thawne having taken his cowel down so that Barry could see his face fully.
"How ironic, don't you think so, Flash?" Thawne asked smugly, "It ends where it began that first night you encountered and fought me without at all knowing who I fully was to you at the time, and also when you weren't at your full speed capacity back then either."
"Only this time, you will be the one to lose, Thawne," Barry spat defiantly, the two rushing each other, Thawne felling Barry with a powerful right arm move, Barry gasping as he landed on his back.
"You think so, Barry?" Thawne gloated, speeding off, Barry following, as, like that first night three years ago, they ran through the stadium, exchanging blows before returning to the pitch, Thawne rugby tackling Barry to the ground, before then speeding off moments before Wally and Jesse arrived.
"Barr," Wally said as he held out a hand, Barry taking it and allowing Wally to help him to his feet.
"Where did he go?" Jesse asked, only for the answer to be given as they were all blown off their feet in different directions by Thawne as he returned, this time having retrieved the Spear of Destiny from where he had thrown it after Sonic's first ring portal had allowed him to escape from 1916. And although Sara had depowered it so that it was no longer ever capable of its main purpose of being able to rewrite reality, it was still effective as an ordinary weapon, which Thawne made full use of as he sped up to where Jesse lay and stabbed her through her left leg, Jesse screaming as he did so.
"I told you this wasn't your fight to get involved in, young Jesse Quick," Thawne told her, Jesse's screams of pain increasing as he pulled the Spear out of, her blood covering half of its blade.
"You bastard," Wally roared as he rushed Thawne, but Thawne merely whacked Wally in the chest with the Spear's wooden shaft, sending the young Kid Flash speedster back down onto the grass and then stabbing him through the right shoulder with the Spear, Wally screaming.
"You think you'll ever be as good as Barry, huh, Kid Flash?" Thawne asked Wally as smug and as gloatingly as ever, "You're nothing compared to him."
"Say that again, Eobard," Barry bellowed in pure hatred as he too now made his move on Thawne, but again the Reverse Flash just managed to get there first, pulling the Spear out of Wally's shoulder and thrusting it through Barry's side as he came up to him, Barry emitting his own high scream of immense pain at the touch of the Spear's blade, falling back to the ground and joining his fellow speedsters there as Thawne pulled it back out, the blood of Barry, Wally and Jesse now coating the Spear. And now Thawne stepped forward and planted his right foot on Barry's throat, Barry choking as Thawne increased the pressure, unable to move as the Reverse Flash raised the Spear, aiming its tip right at Barry's exposed chest.
"At last, it ends between us, for you and your pathetic youngster pals, Flash," Thawne hissed through gritted teeth, preparing to strike. But then, the inhuman roar of the Black Flash sounded out, Thawne freezing, face overcome with sheer horror and terror, eyes widening at the realization of his own self carelessness, for once again he had allowed himself to become immersed in other things, in this case it was once more seeing and battling his lifelong speedster foe that had done it, and forgotten about the fact he had made the absolutely fatal mistake of abandoning his special pager in Doomworld.
"You sure about that, Thawne?" Wally asked, managing a grin in spite of the pain of his wound and not knowing just what it was that had emitted the sound, as the Black Flash itself now arrived in a flash of red lightning at the other end of the football pitch, emitting a loud roar.
"No..." Thawne breathed, face drained of colour, and prepared to flee for his life again. But he had only managed to speed past the three downed hero speedsters before, in the blink of a eye, the Black Flash intercepted him, its clawed left hand grabbing him by the throat while its right pierced his chest, shredding Thawne's heart in the same he enjoyed killing himself, the speedster demon monster roaring in his face before yanking its hand out of him, and then speeding off, just as Kara, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles arrived, and so were in time for the endgame.
Just like with Savitar earlier, from the Earth 38 quartet's perspective anyway, it started with Thawne's hands and slowly spread up his arms, his body blackening followed by his legs and feet, with glowing orange cracks similar to those on smouldering logs from a campfire appearing all over him. Then, observed by the Earth 1'ers, 38'ers and Jesse, Thawne watched in horror, as first the Spear itself, and then his fingers and then his whole hands began to break apart, the pieces floating and dissolving in the air. Then his arms, feet, legs and body all followed, dissolving one by one, until his head was the only thing left of him, the Reverse Flash emitting one final scream of rage, fate having at last ultimately cheated him, before that too, and himself, was gone.
"My god," Jesse breathed, this being her first time witnessing a speedster's erasure. But then the Black Flash was back in their midst, looking between them all, Kara, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles recoiling at the sight of its horrific rotted flesh scarred face and fanged teeth thanks to the torn off left side of his cowl, but then it roared once and was gone.
"Was that...?" Wally began.
"Hunter!" Barry answered, shocked at seeing the speedster who had plagued Jesse and dad Harry's home Earth for years, and then him and his team and their own Earth, but who had now obviously been turned by the Speedforce and its Time Wraith enforcers into their latest freak of nature, end Thawne so easily.
"Guys, oh my god!" Kara now exclaimed herself, she and the other three hurrying over, horrified at seeing their speedster friends' wounds inflicted on them by the now erased from existence Thawne with the Spear of Destiny.
"We'd better get them back to STAR Labs at once," Tails said urgently.
"At once," Sonic agreed unhesitatingly.
"Allow me the honour, Lady Quick," Knuckles said to Jesse, picking her up as gently as he could with his boxing glove encased hands. Kara lifted Barry up and positioned him in her arms bridal style, Barry wrapping his arms around her neck for support, while Wally himself didn't resist as Tails placed his hands under his arms, the fox's two tails blurring into life again as he carefully lifted the young Kid Flash speedster up and off the ground a little way.
"Let's go," Sonic urged, and together they raced away from the stadium, heading for STAR Labs where the rest of their two teams' members awaited.
