Steve Harrington officially gave up on love the moment Dustin broke down in his arms trying to tell him that Eddie Munson was dead. Everyone Steve fell for, it seemed, was either dating each other or dead. And with the fissures open in the ground and the party scrambling to figure out how to save the world - again - Steve's love life felt pretty low-stakes. He simply didn't have time to think about it.
Eddie, on the other hand, had nothing but time. Being dead was incredibly boring, as it turned out, and very lonely. He didn't expect to be given any second chances, because life's never been that kind to him. Still, as he crawled his way through a hell perfectly designed to torture him, the cracks started to show. Maybe Vecna was weakening. Maybe the fissures were letting things leak through to the other side. Either way, Eddie made up his mind. He wouldn't run away this time.
