Summary
24-year-old Albert Wesker gets called on by the military to assist in the investigation of the "cult murders" of Chrissy Cunningham, Fred Benson, and Patrick McKinney down in Hawkins, Indiana. He's aware of the recent spotlight the little town has found itself in, with the occurrences of the last few years, most of which remain unexplained. However, he finds that he's not simply investigating some brutal, but unusual murders; instead, he's unraveling years, maybe even decades, worth of secrets. Wesker knows when he's being lied to, and this assignment screams prevarication. Nonetheless, curiosity does wonders for persuasion, and he is a researcher. But only now, he has his own motivations for seeing the case through. However, the longer he digs, the more Wesker uncovers not only about Hawkins but also about himself. The truth will be revealed, but to do so, Wesker must dig deep—deeper than he ever has before.
Some things are better left alone, and some things are not, and in his pursuit of the truth, Wesker might get involved in something worth more than he ever thought possible.

When Steve left Montana he promised himself he wouldn't return unless someone died-- happy to leave that world behind him. He thought he'd have several decades before he was dragged back to the ranch he used to call home. But Sara died. His big sister-- bringing him back to the family.
His family was far from traditional. It wasn't any wonder that it took one of them dying in a freak accident to get them all in the same place again. If that wasn't distressing enough, it became clear Steve's father would need more help with Sara being gone, forcing him to stick around longer.
On top of it all, his childhood sweetheart's presence on the ranch was impossible to ignore. Steve knew if he wasn't careful, it'd be all too easy to fall into his arms and never leave. The only issue was, if Jonathan learned his secret, there was no way he'd want a thing to do with Steve.

She plops into the empty seat across from him, right beside Heather. The cheer captain scowls. Carol beckons Tommy over, and he comes like a fucking dog to heel.
