Billy had hoped to spend his summer working hard, both slinging ice cream at Scoops Ahoy with Steve and Robin, and at the community pool as a life guard with Heather, an unexpected friend.
Unfortunately, when Heather starts acting oddly, Max and Eleven let him know that the Mind Flayer may not be gone, and even worse, that he may be behind Heather’s odd behavior.
Soon enough, Billy is once again forced to get involved with Upside Down nonsense, helping the kids set up a ‘Sauna Test’, accompanying Jonathan and Nancy to the hospital for more information and trying to figure out how to help Heather, all while trying to figure out why Steve and Dustin won’t answer any of their attempts at communication.

Steve tried to shake his head. “I’m not.” He swallowed, but his voice sounded weaker than he wanted.
Billy leaned closer. “Yeah, you are. And that’s hot.”
Steve’s stomach twisted. “You… you like messing with me.”
Billy laughed. “Maybe. But maybe I like the you too. Scared, pretending not to be.”
Steve looked down at his cup, suddenly wishing he had a reason to leave. But something in him didn’t want to. Not yet.
Billy’s hand brushed Steve’s again. This time on purpose. Steve didn’t pull away. He couldn’t.
“You’re thinking about it,” Billy said, his voice rough. “Admit it. You want it. Don’t lie.”
Steve looked up. Billy’s smirk was sharp, teasing, daring. And it made Steve’s stomach flip. He opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out.

He'd bolted for the door again, but before he could get across the threshold there was yank at the back of his jacket a stabbing pain in the side of his neck. His head hit the floor just shy of the porch as he passed out from what he was later told was a literal tranquilizer.When he woke up in the trunk of the beamer, safe to say he was not pleased.
This was also how Billy found himself following Harrington and the four musketeers into an actual maze of unearthly, legitimately disgusting tunnels with a bandana tied around his face and a crowbar in his hands twenty minutes later. He barely knew how he had the wherewithal to get to that point, let alone agree to walk around in a monster hell-pit sinkhole. Then again, he had no where else to go.

Steve Harrington thinks about things a lot, it is the only way he can keep himself sane in this empty, cold and vacant house. His parents are constantly away to the point that he barely thinks of them as parents but more as visitors. One thing he never thought about though, was the fact that he would end up as a babysitter (read as mother) to a group of traumatized kids.
