Clark was stunned, as if he couldn't believe Dick, of all people, was speaking to him that way. Dick, who since he was a child had always looked up to Superman as a role model, who had shaped Nightwing as much by the legacy of Batman as Superman.
The Kryptonian's gaze hardened, "I love him more than any of you ever have.”
(Bruce has little time left. Clark and Dick cope, or rather, don't cope, with the loss the best way they know how.)

"Why are you here, Nightwing?" Superman's voice was calm but firm as he spoke. He didn't even turn around, all his attention on the man lying on the bed, gripping his hand. He touched him as if he were the most precious thing in the world. Dick didn't want to look: Bruce shouldn't be like this, immobile, surrounded by machinery.
"I'm here for him," Dick said, standing in front of the bed, still looking at Superman, because he couldn't see his father Bruce in that way.
Superman made a contemptuous noise, completely out of place for him, "And obviously, you're alone. Where are the others? Minding their own business?"
Dick curled his lip, defensive. "Someone had to stay in Gotham, you know."
"If my father had been saved from a cult that wanted to sacrifice him to an alien god, I'd be right there with him," the alien said angrily. "But apparently, he doesn't even deserve that grace, does he?"
(Batman was a legend. Batman was invincible. But Bruce Wayne was just a man, and Dick wasn't ready to face the chance of seeing another parent die, without being able to tell him he didn't hate him.)

Bruce has always been… unconventional. He wasn't given a very good hand in the first place, with everything he's gone through it's no wonder he's a bit different. Although sometimes it can sting, he's proud of the things he's done. If he changed anything, he wouldn't have his beautiful pups. And he would never have gotten the chance to truly meet his partner.
He should have known better to let his guard down.
OR: Bruce is living his best life completely blind sighted to the fact no one knows he's an Omega.

"How dare you stand there now? Playing the saint? After you ruined MY dad? After you treated me like I was fucking nothing?" Jason’s eyes burned with unshed tears and fury. "How dare you? You are the most despicable son of a bitch..."
"I KNOW!" Nightwing screamed, surprising Jason, looking at him with all the torment of a man who bore the weight of his sins and those of his father. He took a moment to calm down, breathing heavily, distancing himself from the other man.
"Fuck, Hood, I know," he began to speak again, running both hands over his face, " And there isn't a day that goes by that I don't regret it."
(Where the Dick Jason knew isn't the Dick Tim and the others now adore, and Jason doesn't recognise this stranger. Not when he remembers what Dick was like, and he hasn't forgiven him.)

Batman apocalypse AU where the assorted heroes who are left are trying to stop the villains who are ravaging the world. People who have been turned into ruthless monsters are still destroying everything.
Bruce leans against the counter, his head pounding. Everything hurts, and he can feel the stitches across his abdomen throbbing. He finished a fight less than an hour earlier, and barely managed to stitch himself up before he bled out. Now he waits for the others to come back, those who were on their own scouting missions. At this point, the Earth is horribly deformed. There are places laced with radiation from bombs that were used in an attempt to take out the Deranged as the once human monsters are now called. They still don’t even know what turned them into Deranged, and it’s been two years since the first one appeared.
Heroes were the first to fall as not only did the Derange attack them first, but the villains also saw this as an opportunity. Until the Deranged ran out of easy to find heroes, and started killing them, and everything around them. Now humanity lives in small pockets of safety that the rest of the heroes are struggling to maintain while working to right the world.

Today, Clark had already done every normal and absurd solution he could think of and was ready to completely give up. He turns off almost every piece of technology in the cave, except for a small DVD player that he’d brought for background noise. Thank goodness he did, because the small, solar-powered, low-wattage player provided just the right environment for a weak message from whatever channel was reaching out to Clark—reaching out to Superman.
The words flashed on screen, blurry at first, then came into focus. After reading them, Clark rubs his eyes.He was convinced he had lost his mind.

Bruce and Clark haven't spoken in years, an argument has left the two men as strangers for the better part of a decade. This all changes when Superman comes barreling into Gotham unannounced, requesting a lunch date with Bruce. For whatever reason, Bruce complies.
