Jack finds himself, Dean purges his poison, Sam rediscovers his individuality, and John contends with who he is. Claire learns how to let herself be seen, and Mary learns to accept and grow past her objectification. I wanted to explore the similarities between John and Dean Winchester as fathers and how that impacts their relationships with their respective children (and spouses) today.
This fic also interrogates many problematic aspects of the Supernatural TV world with realism, including its treatment of women. Don't worry, there are fun bits too: Jack makes Cas-glasses to help him find his dad.
I love all 15 seasons despite/because of SPN's flaws.
