Gabriel had no choice but to love from afar, he knew this. When it had become love, he wasn't entirely sure. After all, Sam was Lucifer's vessel. Gabriel should be quite literally anywhere else but in the young Winchester's head.
Sam didn’t like Gabriel, or at least he thought he didn’t. Sam wasn’t sure why he actually started to enjoy the company of the archangel, a stark contrast from the other angels he knew.
Neither of them felt as though they deserved a happy ending, they had too much to atone for. But maybe, just maybe, they could have even a moment of happiness, even if it couldn’t be for eternity.
