Summary
Every night for the last 22 years, Mercer Frey has been haunted by the same nightmare of a dark-haired woman, a cursed tomb, and a murder of crows. Brynjolf has been barely holding the crumbling guild together as its members are slowly picked off one by one through a series of arrests, executions, and accidents. When an exhausted, staving, and half-dead stranger stumbles into the streets of Riften, she finds herself caught up in a decades-long curse that somehow has much more to do with her than anyone could have realized.

“Aye, what makes pants origami any different from jus’ foldin’ y’trousers?” Xantos asked, tilting his head as Gnives sensually undid each lace.
“Well, this seems to be done with some sort of… Seductory intent,” Alinor would almost seem sober if Xantos didn’t know the high elf as well as he did. The lad was soused, veritably pickled even if he was holding his own.
“Is not a matter of seduction,” Gnives said seductively, trying to take a step across the table and stumbling over the pants now around his ankles. He dipped down to collect them in one hand, giving a pantleg a quick, swaggalicious swing in a circle. “Nor is it folding trousers.” He pretended to spit on the table. “Blasphemy. Pants origami is art, old elf. A ritual practice. Does one create sculpture to honor the gods when one folds trousers?”
“I ain’t got none on.” Xantos whispered to him, other hand reaching down to gesticulate with the fabric of his kilt.
“...Sangiin will make an exception,” Gnives offered, his eyes flicking up to the dunmer’s face as he gave him a toothy grin.

The Thieves Guild had once held power across Skyrim but a streak of bad luck had left them powerless even in their home town of Riften. They are all waiting on something new to change their luck. What they don't expect is a law-minded bard and his healer wife setting up shop in town and slowly changing it for the better. A comedy of errors of thieves trying and failing to dig up dirt on their marks turns dark as Mercer Frey reveals exactly how far he's willing to go to get the Guild back on top. A sequel/story in compliment to my fic Restoration and Speech (that does not require reading the other first).

"About time to get dinner started, hm?"
With Cynric's one hand between Marcurio's legs and the other entangled in his hair, this definitely isn't a good time to cook. However, to stop Cynric from leaving the couch and their very intimate situation, Marcurio has to take charge.
In the perfect world, he'd straddle Cynric's strong, lean thighs and wrangle the rest of his shirt off. He'd kiss Cynric's neck and whisper to him not to stop, that dinner can wait, and maybe even offer himself as the meal of the evening.
"Ah… Yes, I suppose," Marcurio murmurs instead, letting go of Cynric's lapels to smooth his wrinkled shirt. "It's getting rather late, isn't it."

Cynric didn't mean to snoop; he just wanted to find the pretty ink for a petty birthday card, but stumbling over smut in Marcurio's desk makes it incredibly hard (him as well) to focus on anything else.
While he shouldn't have broken the promise of privacy at all, bringing the subject up appears to be the push Marcurio needs to be brave enough and point to one of the many enticing bookmarks for Cynric to get a peek on a secret wish, and by the gods, he can't wait to oblige.

“Cynric Endell,” flows off the masterpiece's tongue like a lazy river, sparkling eyes coming alive with intrigue as he takes Marcurio’s hand. “No worries; everyone’s got a schedule to keep.”
“Quite so, yes.” Pressing on a smile, Marcurio retracts his hand before doing something completely out of character, like proposing. “I hope your term will go well.”
Marcurio is not crushing on the new professor. Period. The man just happens to be the personification of an artwork, but that's beside the point because Marcurio knows nothing about art.He does know a lot about space, so when the new professor wants to learn during one of his classes, things end up far more physical than expected (and he can't even get mad about it).
