Desire is always fucking with Dream because they are bitter exs and Desire is pissed that Dream left them without any explanation.
In fact they didn't even really break up Dream just started acting as if they were never together to begin with and Desire was really in love.
or
Dream thought they were just blowing off stem together and eventually just stopped after a while because he was too busy with work and sex isn't high on his priority list. He never realized they were together to begin with. Which is why he can't understand why Desire keeps fucking with his love life.
