Summary
Every year Alfred chooses someone to do the honours of ‘spinning the wheel’- using a random generator to pick a date to be named the “day of the robins”.
Basically where everyone who has ever been a robin- and some who haven’t- get their hands on a Robin costume and go out to terrorise the masses. (Certain past-robins who are a little more reluctant to relive that particular experience are allowed the joy of their own Batman parody.)
And that’s great and all, hilariously fun- but Dick is a little preoccupied right now.
(I mean, when you go undercover, you can’t exactly bring your calendar with you, so you kind of have to remember all your dates- Dick was just really hoping that someone would come and collect him, because he’s definitely forgotten.)Or: Dick is just vibing in NYC with the WC team, until he (and of course the rest of the team, because I love dramatic reveals almost as much as I can’t write them,) is elaborately dragged off to go participate in the annual “everyone is Robin and we’re going to go mess with people” day.

He kicked off the blanket, tripped over it, and scrambled into the hallway, socks sliding on
the polished floor. The manor was big — too big — and every shadow felt like it was
watching him.
He found Alfred in the kitchen, of course. He always found Alfred in the kitchen. The man
was like a tea-summoning wizard.
Alfred was standing at the stove in his robe, stirring something in a small pot. He looked up
as Jason skidded to a stop in the doorway.
“Good morning, Master Jason.”
Jason didn’t waste time. “Did they call?”
Alfred set the spoon down. “They are safe.”
Jason’s shoulders sagged. “Really?”
“Quite.”
Jason let out a breath he didn’t know he’d been holding. His knees felt wobbly, like they’d
been holding up too much fear for too long.
Then he frowned. “Wait. Why aren’t they back yet?”
Alfred didn’t even blink. “Master Bruce asked me to inform you that he will not be returning
home this morning.”
Jason blinked. “Why not?”
Alfred cleared his throat. “He is… spending the remainder of the evening at a model’s
house.” -

He stamped down on his anxieties. This was nothing but a childish fear, and his gut feeling meant nothing. Batman had taught him to rely on the logical, not the illogical. And certainly not gut feeling.
