“I’m not asking you to make Damian give up Robin, I’m only telling you that you need to stop raising child soldiers! Is that all we are to you?! Pawns in your screwed up fucking mission? You don’t deserve to call yourself a father, in fact, you don’t even deserve to call yourself human you-!”
Bruce’s fist makes a resounding crack! as it hits Dick’s face. He topples to the ground, and is left to stare up at Bruce while the man towers over him.
“You have no right to have any say in how I parent my sons. Or have you forgotten that you’re not even one of them?”

So. What I WANTED to do was write a two-chapter fix-it about Dick saving Jason from his coffin, but that… got a little out of hand.
So now I’m throwing children with Adopt Me! written on their foreheads at Bruce and solving everyone’s problems because I feel bad for them.
Almost everyone’s. Tim is not having a fun time, and Jason isn’t exactly enjoying himself either. Duke and Steph are watching their nightmares come to life.

Summary
It's not that he doesn't like Clark. He’s obsessed with Clark, actually, and not just because he somehow conned his way into dating him.
As suspicious and crazy as it makes Bruce feel, he cannot deny that Clark cares. He’s constantly checking in on Bruce. They talk on the phone practically every day, and Superman has become a frequent and regular visitor at Wayne Manor. Dick adores him. Alfred does too. He keeps making hints about ‘letting Mr. Kent into the club in an official capacity’.
Clark is wonderful. He is good—too good.
He won't treat Bruce the way Bruce wants to be treated.

Summary
Dick Grayson didn’t mean to avoid Tim Drake.
Dick was fairly confident the boy would make a decent Robin. But beyond that Dick didn’t have any strong opinions, and he was happy to leave it that way. He refused to form an opinion, to become attached. It was easier that way. Dick didn’t want to take the time to examine the dread he felt seeing Tim in his colors, standing in the same spot another black haired, blue eyed boy used to be. He wasn’t looking for a new brother. That’s what he told himself when eight months had passed and he had only met the boy a handful of times.
Dick stopped telling himself that when he learned that Tim had died due to the Joker.
Or: In Tim's early Robin days, Dick realizes he needs to step up and mentor the boy who now holds his mantle. Tim is going to be part of the family, no matter what Bruce has to say.

Summary
Dick Grayson has reached one of the lowest points in his life. He doesn't know what to do or where to go, and the only thing that he can think of is that he needs to get out of Gotham and as far as he can from the Wayne Manor.
That's when, unconsciously, his feet lead him to Metropolis to seek comfort in the arms of someone who had been there for him for his entire life.Or: Dick gets fired but I decided to add some drama so that it's more traumatic.
This is my take on the argument that Bruce and Dick had (so it's different from the comics) and the aftermath of the fight, where the boy has to learn how to start a new life without his father, but with the help of some people who only wish to see him happy. -

This is a rewrite of my fic under the same name! I knew I could do a lot better with the story than I did, but I don't want to take the other one down, at least until I finish this one.

Summary
“I trained you to live.”
Those words echoed in his head like a ghost. Dick had to go to Spyral—forced—before he’d even begun to understand what had happened to him. Yet when he gets back he notices their hypnos commands never really left his head.
Now, with Bruce ignoring him entirely and the silent judgment—or outright hatred—of his entire family pressing down, Dick felt the last threads of restraint fray. He was teetering on the edge of losing it entirely. -

Summary
Clark Kent has cared about Dick Grayson since he was 8 years old. That didn't just stop when he turned eighteen. Or when he turned 20. Or 24. He'll never not care.
Grayson has always hated being "babied" and that distaste has only grown stronger since he turned 18. Since he turned 20. Since he's now 24.
When Nightwing makes a risky move on a mission, everything goes wrong.

“I did what I thought was necessary in the moment. I’ve had plenty of close calls that were closer than this one. The only difference is that you’re not there to see those happen and panic! You’re acting like I’m a kid!”“I know you’re not a kid, but you are sure as hell acting like one right now!”
~
Then Nightwing finally snapped. The tension that had been swallowing the room frayed in the center as he snarled; “You are not my dad. So stop trying to be one."

Summary
In the depths of the void left by the fallen Dark Knight, two shadows met—one too young to comprehend loss, the other too old to escape it.
Dick Grayson returned to Gotham, burdened by a responsibility he hadn't chosen. What he hadn't expected was to meet Damien, a boy with a gaze beyond his years and words harsher than his own experiences.
Dick hadn't intended to become a father, and Damien hadn't intended to be a child again.
Neither of them intended to be the other's family, at least not necessarily.
But in a world intertwined with sleepless nights, cups of cocoa, and hesitant laughter, amidst morning cartoons, spilled cereal, and the occasional sword fight, they discovered that love could be born from the womb of loss,
and that trust could be built in a language that needed no words. They were building something new from the ashes—something quieter, kinder, and fairer for them.
It's a story of healing, finding a family, and a little hand learning to trust.

Summary
“Why are you here?”
“Just wanted to check up on an old friend,” the guest said, almost in a shrugging tone. The kind of tone that tried so hard to sound normal that it ended up screaming it out for everyone to hear.
“We haven’t talked in two years Dick” Roy said, trying not to sound too disapproving. After all, it wasn’t like he hadn’t missed his friend during that time.
OR: Roy and Dick haven't had contact for two years now, but Dick comes to Roys appartment after Jasons death. They are depressed, they hug each other, they might sleep in the same bed.

Summary
Looking down, Bruce found a little boy staring up at him with big blue eyes. Rain weighed down his dark hair and dripped onto the shoulders of his unbuttoned yellow rain jacket, the t-shirt underneath quickly becoming soaked. On his feet were the smallest pair of green galoshes Bruce had ever seen.
“Batman,” the boy said with wonder, clutching at the edge of his cape. “You’re really Batman.”
“…I am.”
The little boy held up his hands in the universal gesture for up. Glancing around, Bruce expected to find an adult not far behind, but he couldn’t see any parent-shaped figures nearby as actors ducked under umbrellas, camera crew reset their equipment, and PAs scrambled around the makeshift set.
“Up,” the boy said, stretching up onto his tiptoes.
Bruce picked him up.
“I don’t see them,” the boy pouted. “I thought since you’re so tall I would see them from up here.”
“Your parents?”
“I was ‘posed to stay put, but I didn’t, and there’s a lot, a lot of tall people here.”
“Mm.”
“I know you are very busy fighting the bad guys,” the boy said seriously. “But you help people too, right?”
“Yes.” Bruce’s chest tightened. “We’ll find them."

Summary
Waking up in a strange bed under a ceiling he doesn’t recognize is not on his To Do list that fine Saturday morning. But considering the way his life has been going since he was nine, that feels about par for the course.
Waking up to his dead mother’s face, more aged and refined and as beautiful as he remembers, should be something he can compartmentalize. He’s had enough run-ins with time travel and dimension travel and time loops to fill a sci-fi section in the world’s largest library. It doesn’t keep it from hurting though.

❝ thanatophobia:
(n.) the phobia of losing someone you love ❞• • •
This must've been the first dream about that night in many years. The first night terror in a month or two, actually. Percy was twenty-one now, years after the end of both wars and over a decade after that wretched night. However, he knew the ending scenes of his dream were far from what really happened. While he would have liked to introduce Gabe to the wrath of Medusa earlier, that only happened after his first quest. At ten years old after his mother's death, Percy did not stand up at fight. He ran. He ran and ran and ran until he collapsed in an alleyway, near ready to follow his mother's descent. He may have been successful, if he hadn't met Gotham's Dark Knight. Percy sat up in his bed, his memories effectively pushing the sleep from his system. Batman had scooped him up and whispered promises of a better life, one with his friend Bruce Wayne. Percy could never recollect how he ended up in a plush bed inside Wayne Manor that same night, or how he ended up joining the coveted Wayne family. All he knew of was the gentle hands of their butler tending to his wounds and the warm smiles of Bruce Wayne and his other ward: Dick Grayson.
