When the school year at Nevermore is cut in half because of the Crackstone event, all the students are forced to return home. But soon after that occurs, both Enid and Wednesday begin to feel strange, unwell even, as they start to be haunted by eerie dreams. This inevitably forces Wednesday to travel to Enid in San Francisco so they can get to the bottom of this mystery unwinding in front of them. But all of this will reveal far more secrets than they ever thought possible.

Enid laughed a small laugh that brought tears right back to choke in her throat. She couldn’t imagine having a relationship with her mother where she could be seen and loved for her whole self. She couldn’t imagine spending time with her and it not hurting. Whenever Esther would die, it would be before anything ever changed between them. And until then, Enid would be hurt again and again.
Enid let out a shaky breath and whispered, “Don’t kill my mom, Wednesday.”
