Venti glances at the direction of the voice and stiffens, because there is his friend, looking just as he remembers him, so reminiscent of a fleeting past, with outstretched hands just like his statue in front of the church in Mondstadt. "We will be free soon, and we will be able to see the sky and the world beyond," The bard continued, "There is no reason to be so glum."
Oh, Venti realizes, I am here again.
or alternatively, the fic in which venti falls asleep again and wakes up in a time where they haven't overthrown decarabian yet and the nameless bard is still alive. naturally, venti plans to keep him that way.

One day, a red cardinal found it. The hellebore offered its tree, and the cardinal stayed. Again, throughout the years they lived side by side. The cardinal wandered sometime, meandering off into the distance, yet always returning to where the hellebore was rooted.

As my own consciousness faded and merged with my 'past incarnation', I thought of him - the Balladeer, Kunikuzushi, Kabukimono… It was dawning at me that he didn't want to destroy, to consume, to possess. He didn't want me. Didn't want anything I was able to offer - a clean slate void of any burden and emotion. He wanted something that couldn't be seen, something so innocent and human.

If you wish to atone for your former self’s sins – perceived and real alike – living your life for yourself is the best remedy.”
Processing his regaining of past memories, Wanderer spends a night on the footsteps of the Sanctuary of Surasthana, struggling to come to terms with his past sins. But help comes in the most unexpected form and acceptance suddenly becomes not a farfetched concept.
