So, Mickey comes up with some kind of an ultimatum, a compromise even — though he really just rewords the question in a way that sounds different, yet still feeds into all the answers he’d been wanting. Leaning forward slightly and letting Ian pass the cigarette over to him, Mickey asks, “Who did it? You lose a fight?”
Ian lets out a disconcerted sigh, sounding resigned and exasperated, as if he were completely annoyed with the conversation, perhaps more than Mickey was, and Mickey wasn’t the one trying to dodge the stupid fuckin’ questions. Looking down and fixing his eyes down at his pants that his nails are picking at, Ian mutters, “Frank.”
