Ash relaxed into Eiji's touch, and seemingly forgetting that Eiji was still clothed as he sat beside the tub, pressed his wet back against Eiji's knees. "I don't ever want to go back there," Ash wiped his tears away despite his face being wet from the humidity of the bathroom. "I don't ever want to see Dino's ugly mug again," he spat out, anger clearly beginning to boil within him hotter than the water he was sitting in. Eiji knew that he felt just a fraction of that anger after the small amount of pain and suffering he endured at the hands of Dino. He couldn't begin to imagine what years of injustice like that, like what he experienced as a child in Cape Cod, could do to a person, if what he was feeling was as painful as it was.

“Are you sure you want me to do this?” Eiji asks, teeth gnawing at his bottom lip as he stares at Ash in the reflection of the grimy bathroom mirror that was coated with sticky blue toothpaste stains and smudges from all the times the rest of the gang carelessly pressed their fingertips against the glass.
Ash sends Eiji a look. In the past five minutes, Eiji has asked that question nearly ten times, and each time Ash’s reply was the very same: yes, go ahead. And yet: Eiji was still hesitant.
“Maybe we should go to a hairdresser or ask—“ Ash grunts in dismay, lips pressed thinly together when he imagines anyone else besides Eiji standing behind him with a pair of scissors in their hands. Panic swells in his chest but he quickly tampers down as he studies Eiji’s face through the mirror.

— Et comment compte-tu m’en empêcher ? Ricana-t-il, les mains sur les hanches.
Le japonais y avait longuement pensé, et pas uniquement ce soir. Comment retenir Ash ? Il n’y arrivera jamais pas la force.
