“No communication issues?” Thorin repeated, looking at the hobbit now with even more uncertainty. “You didn’t think to tell me that this hobbit only spoke his own language?”
“A minor setback, really,” the wizard said, waving off the dwarf’s concerns with a smile. He squeezed Bilbo’s shoulder before clearing his throat. “Young Master Baggins, here, is the son of one of the Shire’s most proficient Westron speakers. He was exposed to the language as a child, although he hasn’t had much use for it in his lifetime so his skills have, understandably, diminished. But I have no doubt that, given the opportunity to learn, he would pick it up quite quickly. He is a clever fellow if I’ve ever known one.”

Vana knew even as she found her harmony that she alone would not be able to handle the task assigned to her. Eru, when she went to him, understood how important her duty was and agreed to give her help. The hobbits were created to aid their Lady.
They took after her in many ways, fair and beautiful yet diligent in their tending of the flowers their Lady so adored. There were many throughout Middle Earth who did not understand the task Vana had. They dismissed her care of flowers and her beauty as being frivolous. They did not want to and could not understand what Vana’s true endeavor was.
Over the years, hobbits began to forget, too. They still cared for their flowers and loved each and every one they discovered. They shared the living blooms on their arms with their loved ones and grew set in their ways. Until a wizard showed up at a garden gate and disturbed their peace.

Summary
A Sea Serpent sank Ships set out from Erebor to find some 'the forgotten land'. All that was onboard is lost, including the Arkenstone, the map, and it's commander Prince Frerin. With the lose of the stone and the Dwarven fleet depleted, Dwarven territory is over taken by Orc Pirates.
Gandalf suggests to the Royal family that the stone, their honour, and lost territory can be retrieved with the help of a small, unthought of race to the west. Hobbits are descendants of Sirens, able to breath underwater and equipped with some of their ancestors magic.
Thorin is tasked by his father to retrieve the stone with a crew of just 12 and a small sail boat to brave sea monsters, pirates, and the elves, who wish to gain the land the dwarves lost for themselves.

The Took family’s collective sense of uncanny rebellion, adventure, curiosity, and overall lack of respectability aren’t the only reasons the rest of the Shire deemed them menaces. The family was never banished from the area, as the other Hobbits knew they were no match for the freaks of nature.
Every generation of Took children, regardless of their other parent, have been born with something different. Something that the other Hobbits whisper about behind their hands when the clan passes. Something that has gotten them rude insults, glares, and even physical attacks.
The Took clan Hobbits all have wings. And Bilbo “Mad Hobbit” Took is no exception.

The Bilbo who left the Shire knew precisely who he was: the son of Bungo and Belladonna, a respectable Baggins with an inconvenient Took streak. A hobbit who kept his brass buttons polished, his pantry well-stocked, and his garden paths swept clean of autumn leaves. He was excellent at conundrums, impeccable with thank-you notes, and could recite proper tea etiquette in his sleep. He was punctual and proper, with nothing unexpected ever happening to him.
That was before he held the Heart of the Mountain and the blood of kings in his thieving hands.
