Summary
What if Clown In A Cornfield wasn't a slasher.
Kettle Springs is just like every other sleepy small town in the Pacific Northwest, everyone knows everyone and nothing bad happens here, that is until Victoria Hill goes missing one night. Cole Hill is wracked with guilt from that night, the night he let his sister walk into the woods and never come out. His father blames him he knows, but between Victoria and his mother's terminal cancer his father's odd distance is the least of his concerns especially when bodies start turning up and the entity he sees might not be just in his nightmares.
Quinn Maybrook didn't want to move across the country to a small town but her mother and father insist this is a good thing, the fresh air and small town will be good for Mom's recovery and Dad's anxieties, so Quinn's making the best of a bad situation. The longer she stays in Kettle Springs and the closer she becomes with the locals the more she realizes something here is wrong and if she can't figure out a way to stop it, something in the woods will take them all, including her and her parents.

Summary
The only two people who had accepted him with no questions asked were his mom and Rust.
Oh, Rust. If things had been different, Cole probably would have been marrying Rust on the playground during recess the first day they had met in kindergarten. As it went, however, Cole hadn't known if someone like him was allowed to like-like other boys. Because he might like-like Rust, when he thought about it.
Rust.
Who didn't tell him he shouldn't be digging in the dirt. Who let Cole ramble on and on about whatever his latest obsession was and, oh, it changed often. Who followed Cole willingly into his game of the day.

Summary
If Rust was upset that Cole was pushing him away once again, this time he didn't show it. He always seemed happy to see Cole when they passed in the halls at school, and the few and far between days when Cole was able to hang out with him and Quinn?
God, truly a beacon of light for all of them in this trying time. The three of them meshed so well together, and they actually would have so much fun. Like, those moments almost made Cole forget.
They would never be 'normal,' whatever normal fucking meant. Cole was starting to think that maybe he had never been normal to begin with, and he didn't want to pretend to be. But forgetting would have been really fucking nice.
Well, before Cole knew it, the Baypen structure had been rebuilt, three storefronts on Main Street had been renovated, they had hired farmers to come in and begin to salvage all the farmland that had been burned, and Quinn was going to be leaving in three days.

Summary
"You would think he would get enough of clowns at home," the woman working the booth said to Rust as he pocketed the long string of tickets he had just purchased. "Is that why he's making you pay?"
[D]espite what the woman at the ticket booth and pretty much everyone in their town chose to believe -- Cole wasn't sick of Frendo.
Or clowns in general.
He was about to turn sixteen, and he already was brewing up ideas for when he took over Baypen. And he wasn't going to be ditching Frendo. No, the clown just needed a little make over[.]
