It wasn’t a lie, not really, because Hope didn’t need to know that he never sent the letters. And anyway, the only reason he never sent them was because they were never finished.

Peter spent half a decade trying and failing to compose a letter back to Morse, to thank him for that generous and utterly undeserved gift all those years ago. In the end, what brought him back was something he thought was buried for good.

Summary
This story takes place in something of an alternate universe. It explores what would have happened had Morse made different choices after his break-up with his former partner.
Please note: I have incredibly little knowledge of what it’s actually like to study at the University of Oxford. I did take a gander at what it’s like to do a defense of a paper. Hopefully this story wound up being accurate. Or thereabouts.
Also, the little research I’ve done on key events in ancient Greek history was thrown together from a bunch of different sources – mostly Wikipedia, along with some history websites from various schools. (Why lie?) I am far from the most knowledgeable person about the battles of Thermopylae and Marathon. I did some simple looking-up, and cobbled things together the best that I could.

That was just a reasonable precaution, really – especially since not even Fred could defend their own against certain accusations. They still did not trust strange Fae immediately, and they were Fae – so all in all, quite the clever boy. He had just moved here with his father, stepmother and baby sister and liked books and, for some reason, classical music. -
