“The anger never goes away, does it?” Thira murmured.
The sympathy on his face transmuted into an expression of pain, deeply felt and rarely understood. But, she realized that he DID understand. Perhaps that was why he chose not to speak; he knew that it was easier to suffer and act in total silence than to endure platitudes and infantilizing from those around him.
'Time heals all, scars fade, they wouldn’t want you to suffer.' All of it was insulting. All of it served to drive the knife deeper, to rip the stitches out. And, like a beast in a cage, with every barb it grew more and more difficult not to bite. The hatred never faded, the fire never dimmed. With every person she tried to share it with, the edges of her love for them wore away as the cinders threatened to ignite and reduce them to ash.
Thira was glad to have left the lights off. No one deserved to witness what she shared with the Slayer. Even the daylight would have defiled the emotion, no–the doctrine–that they held in the space between their hands–
Supreme, all-consuming rage.

Summary
I am making this out of spite because the one fanfic I could find of these two had AI in it and I despise AI. Not the best author, but I hope you like this! Slow to update, my motivation comes and goes randomly. Chapters might change frequently, but it wouldn’t be anything major. Some word changes mostly, rephrasing stuff, changing part of a scene to make more sense at the very most.
The Slayer has spent years killing demons, wrapped up in a war with Hell and possibly the Maykrs while having an unsteady alliance with the Night Sentinels. Their king, Novik, doesn’t trust him and begrudgingly accepts his help to prevent the people of Argent D’Nur from being wiped out. Only one person seems to trust him. The Sentinel commander and princess, Thira. Her help, patience, and friendship helps him stretch long unused emotional muscles.
Follows the plot of Doom the Dark Ages with some extra scenes.

It’s a tradition, he said to himself. It’s transactional. They want you to make a royal baby and fuck off. He considered declining, of course. They just wanted to use his body, but what of it? He was using their resources, accepting food, housing, weapons, transport, all of which aided him in the fight against the forces of hell, so it’s only fair that they requested something from him - just a couple of minutes of his time. And he was relieving these needs himself, regardless, his body was still just human, no matter the training and years of fighting demons.

The Slayer is yet to become a Slayer, but he is thrown in the midst of Sentinels and their traditions and the beginning of their war with demons. He accepts the 'enemy of my enemy' principle, and gradually comes to terms with becoming a Sentinel.

In his fight against hell the closest companions the Doom Slayer has had are his pets. A light in the dark for a silent, hulking man barely understood by even his allies. His dear pet bunny Daisy and his loyal dragon Serrat.
When loneliness takes over the Hellwalker. Vega convinces him to keep a gargoyle as a pet, but demons are like potato chips… you can’t just have one. After promising not to bring another demon into his home, the marauder saves his life and he repays the demon by letting him crash in the Fortress of Doom, but perhaps they are more than just roommates…
Now the Slayer has to juggle his endless crusade and his new family while fighting the Icon of Sin and the Ancient Gods that hold his leash.
(This is fairly canon compliant with the lore/story of Doom and it goes through Doom Eternal’s story and both of the Ancient Gods DLCs. There will definitely be references to Doom: The Dark Ages, but since that takes place like nine million years before Eternal it won’t be the primary focus. I hit most of the main beats of the story, but I do deviate a bit with some of the plot lines for Vega and Samuel Hayden.)

This happens not once, or twice, but three times, and the Slayer quickly learns how much he loves carrying clutches for his dear mate.

Humanity as one knows it is put on the line as the UAC Martian base have been run over by demonic cultist and by demons themselves. The fate of humanity is unknown, it's a losing battle against the armies of hell. On the precipice of defeat, a sleeping sentential is awoken, the last line of defense to prevent the threat from bleeding over to the sister planet, Earth. Caught in the middle, is a new UAC "Scientist"— although she prefers being addressed as Theologist, despite her doctorate in said subject—Angel Sidra having been out of the inner circle to avoid conversion but steely enough to survive this disaster.
Horrible first job really.

To say the world had gone to chaos would be an understatement. No one was prepared for this, no normal person had seen the signs.
