Erestor’s sword is black with blood. A wave crashes up the steps to the terrace as another orc barrels toward him. He jerks back, too slow to parry. A flash. Cold like a blade of winter drives into his face and neck. Something is wrong. His grip falters. His head drops back, refusing his command. All he sees is the sky and elves falling around him. The world’s noise thins to a strange ringing, as if submerged underwater. Then pain erupts, scorching from brow to cheek to throat. Warm liquid spills down his face, blinding his right eye. His knees buckle and he falls. Something sweeps him into darkness. Grey skies drift away, walls rise, and oblivion takes him.
The tale of Erestor, of what was lost to war and what stubbornly survived. His life began in the prosperous Eregion at the time of its prime. Yet when the War of Elves and Sauron started, his life came crashing down all at once. He fled into a world remade by grief and burdened with memories. The road led him to Imladris and to a new life of lesser splendour and hushed turmoil. As time passes, he will have to find peace again and learn how to survive his past. And perhaps, in the quiet, he will discover something he never dreamed would be his again.
