Summary
It was a stupid idea to try and desecrate the crypt’s beacon by himself. He could have at least expected the ambush, but for some reason Owen managed to talk Scott into thinking the humans wouldn’t go there during a blood moon. It would have made sense if it wasn’t for some of the human’s recklessness and paranoia of losing one of their cleansed beacons.
Which was fair seeing as Scott was trying to desecrate it. Doesn’t mean he can’t be salty about it.
Scott couldn't have expected how much he'd regret going out alone.

Something in Scott's eyes tightened. The vampire took another half step forward, more than ever looking like he was holding something in deep inside.
"The animals are dying," Scott spelled out. "We can't feed off of them anymore."
Avid furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, before it hit. His mouth gaped open as fear struck a chord inside him and sent shivers running down his spine.
There were no more animals. The vampires were out of food.

Avid is a vampire hunter. Scott is a vampire. Obviously both hate the other from the start. But strange things happen in the woods of Oakhurst. After unlikely circumstances bring the two closer (in more ways than one), their rivalries start to unravel.
Maybe Scott isn't such a bloodthirsty monster, and can even be pretty nice sometimes--and maybe he's hot, but that's a different topic. Maybe Avid isn't such an annoying nuisance, but someone with unexpected depths and personality (having a pretty face certainly helps).
Maybe the two who've been fated to be against each other since the beginning don't have to be enemies. Just maybe.OR

They ran. Phantom pains shot through her ankle when she prepa- no, not phantom. The wolf shrunk its teeth deeper and Cleo just, just, managed not to fall. She half turned around for a desperate swing with her sword at the beast, when it released her.
Cleo wasn’t left wondering why; They had no time to register their red-hooded assailant before the axe head buried in their shoulder and Cleo fell.
Even stilled, her killer looked manic against the sky. Surrounded by wolves, her billowing scarlet cloak, the diamond axe now tainted with their black blood and, most terrifying, the wide teeth-filled grin and her red-crazed eyes. (Was that a flash of purple?)
Cleo’s last thought before she hit the ground with a loud crack was that she didn’t recognise the woman at all.

Procedure S021M8 went without complication. Nanobots were successfully installed during surgery; they should create a neural bridge between S2055 and P3451's immune system so that P3451's B lymphocytes can mirror S2055's biochemical response to the infection and produce an effect of empathetic immunization on P3451.
Unintended effects of procedure have shown S2055 and P3451's pain pathways have also been synchronized. Further testing required to see if other systems show similar synchrony.
