Season 2, Episode 1 - "Across the Universe"
Voltron Show Rewrite
"Out of nowhere, a piercing whistle rips through the air, causing both paladins to wince and cover their ears. Keith looks up, noticing the beasts wailing and shaking their heads. He takes the chance to run to Shiro's side, placing himself between the paladin and the monsters. The whistling ends, leaving behind a nearly-just-as-piercing ringing in the men's ears.
Keith saw a flash above his head, as a short, tanned girl with dark red hair landed in front of him. The beasts start coming back from the stun of the high pitched sound, growling lowly at the humans in front of them. The girl holds four long sticks, carved into spears. With two in each hand, the tips burst into flames as she threw them toward the pack. One of the beasts yelps as it gets stabbed in the side, another is hit in the leg, the others land in the gaps between the creatures, catching fully on fire and breaking up the group." -

“Searching... for what?” Shiro asked for them all.
“Well, I didn’t really know at the time…Until I stumbled across this area. It’s an outcropping of giant boulders with caves covered in these ancient markings. Each tells a slightly different story about a blue lion, but they all share clues leading to some event years ago. Like a first arrival,”
Keith’s hand paused next to the image of a meteor falling from the sky and landing in the ocean. And now it was Lance’s turn to squint.
“-and then another one happening last night."
-After his home planet is taken by the Galra, Prince Lance becomes torn between two lives: his home planet, or the world he crash-landed on, Earth. In order to find his birth brother and keep his new family safe, Lance goes undercover as a human at the Galaxy Garrison. And before Lance can get anywhere near a real Earth ship in order to do that, he finds his plans being thrown out of the window, because Lance is chosen as the Blue Paladin of Voltron.
Destined to save the Universe.
He ends up with a third family, one he'd die for just the same.

Summary
They could have gone the other way, ignoring the lions, the coalition, the war. They did what they promised, they took care of Zarkon. They could have gone home, for there was no Voltron anymore.
Instead, they chose to fight on, to stay out here in space, fighting a new enemy that was even scarier than Zarkon.
They chose to lead, adapt and move on.
They went down the harder path, because it was the only one they could go down. Because they are the Paladins of Voltron, and the fight was just getting started.

Lance never expected to be flown into space by a giant robotic mystical blue lion with two fellow Garrison cadets, a drop-out, and one that was thought to be dead. Lance never expected that he would be piloting that very same blue lion at the request of a beautiful alien princess and her alien attendant in order to take part in an intergalactic war against a volatile alien race that’s been raging for 10,000 years. But the last thing Lance expected was to run into his ex-girlfriend who was working with said volatile alien race.
