*IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE LIFE AND CRIMES OF ODYSSEUS LAERTIDES THIS FIC WILL MAKE NO SENSE PLEASE READ THAT ONE FIRST*

    *featuring elfstar!!*

    ---------

There's a lot we didn't get into in Crimes. Things left unsaid, things cut for the sake of time, plotlines that weren't explored in the way they deserved, characters who should have had more development. There's a lot we missed out on.

    All of that is here.

Starring Telemachus, Astyanax, and Odysseus, of course, as well as a few never-before-seen (at least in Crimes) POVs: Antinous, Peristratus, Lysander, Eurylochus, and Penelope.

    ---------

Thank you to everyone that has so far been on this journey with me. It's time for another adventure!

    Summary

Penelope was absolutely delighted to have her husband back. But she wished, more than anything, that it hadn’t taken this long.

Far away from Ithaca, the Fates spun the threads of life. Odysseus’ thread had been particularly interesting for them, but now they noticed something odd. The thread was knotted, the present time tied back to the start of his decade-long journey home. It now seemed like from then until he arrived back in Ithaca, there were two versions of Odysseus’ odyssey.

    ~

Odysseus found his mind wandering back to Penelope and Telemachus, his beloved son and wife. They were what he lived for, tried for, wished for, and fought for. His everything. And he would get back to them again. But first, he had to finish this war. Odysseus had to kill the infant Astyanax again. But this time, there would be no whining, no guilt. Odysseus would do whatever it takes to get home. This time, he was ready.

When Odysseus wakes up back in the Trojan Horse, he is willing to do whatever it takes to get home. Again. But this time, he knows what’s coming.

    Summary

Without saying anything, Polites wrapped an arm around his friend and buried his face in his shoulder. He could feel his eyes watering. "I'm tired of the war. I'm tired of the dying and the screaming. And I hate, I hate arguing with you."

"We're not arguing," Odysseus said at once, his voice softer than before. His hand was warm, stroking his back. "You're my best friend."

    "And you're mine," Polites whispered.

    ***
Please don't make me do this, don't make me do this

"You can't escape this, Polites. If you do, everyone will die."
She sounded sorry. Polites wondered if it was for him, or for the succession of days that would wilt the flowers on her crown.

"I'll do what I have to," he promised.

    ***

Or: The story where Polites betrays Odysseus, Patroclus and Achilles have a hope of a happy ending, and a doctor is traumatized.

    Summary

As a child Odysseus loved to read books about the gods and myth. But, all the books about Siren describe them as evil, disgusting, man-eater. His mom isn’t like that. His sister isn’t like that. He's not like that. He's not a monster like that right?

(Basically this is an AU that Odysseus' mother was a siren, so he’s part siren. This takes place after the cyclops saga/ My goodbye. He has an enchanted necklace that helps him appear human, Without the necklace, he’ll still have legs on land. But in the water he has a fish tail. What he looks like on land: fin for ears, Scales like freckles, Sharp teeth, Claw-like hands, and slit pupils.)

    Summary

“We don’t need to do anything big. You know how he is, bashful when he’s the center of attention. I’d just like to do…something for him. He works himself to the bone. I’d like to give him a night of peace.”

Finally, Eurylochus visibly sighed, crinkled brow smoothing, clearly having made up his mind. “I’d like to argue that he is at peace more often than not, if a little tired, he just enjoys helping people. But…fine. We can do something small. What do you have in mind?”

“Well…” Odysseus began, gaze drifting to the chunks of damp wood on the forest floor.

    Summary

Penelope had let her husband go eleven years ago. Since then, every day, she waited for the news that she knew would come sooner or later. Since then, every day, she waited to hear those words: "I'm home."

"My queen?" one of the maids called. "They've spotted ships out at sea."

Penelope stood up suddenly and lifted her skirt with one hand. "Get everything ready and meet me on the beach. I'll be there. Waiting."

    ***

"No one else would understand," Polites had said.

"Why do you think I understand?"

Polites was a gentle soul. So Eurylochus knew he would lie. "'Cause we are friends, Eury."

Polites was gentle. And he didn't say what Eurylochus already knew. "You would understand. You would understand, because you could betray the one you love too."

    ***

Eurylochus returns home to find someone waiting for him. Penelope is also waiting, but there is no one for her.

Or: The plan is simple: kidnap Telemachus. The emotions behind it, however, are anything but simple.

    Summary

“Hey!” Polites chirped in greeting. Eurylochus approached one of the two cots and sat down on the edge, putting his head in his hands. His roommate’s eyebrows wrinkled in worry. “Is everything alright?”

Eurylochus grimaced, softening subtly as the bed shifted with Polites sitting down next to him. “It’s Odysseus.”

“When is it not?” Polites joked. He straightened out when Eurylochus didn’t laugh.

“Something happened when we were in Troy, Poli,” Eurylochus muttered, “Something bad.”

Polites looked down at his open palms, rough and scarred. He nodded, “Battle changes you. It’s only human to be scarred by the horrible things we’ve seen…” Polites cast a hopeful glance at the friend sitting next to him, “Maybe he just needs to talk about it.”

“He refused to talk to me.” Eurylochus’s face scrunched up when he closed his eyes and put his arms around himself securely, “Instead he just… I don’t know, lashed out.” His hands tightened for a brief moment, so quick Polites nearly missed it out of the corner of his eye.

    Summary

Odysseus is, for a full second, determined to sacrifice his men. But Eurylochus’s eyes beg him to reconsider, and there is already so much blood on his hands - and then, in the midst of his desperation and fear, Odysseus has an almost violent epiphany: he has been given no time limit.

And so he shrugs lightly. “That’s true, actually. I don’t want you all to die either.” He looks pointedly away from the swords pointed in his direction, meeting his second-in-command’s gaze with a beam bright enough that the man recoils. “Thanks for bringing that up, Eurylochus! You’ve given me a lot to think about.”
