Summary
Set multiple years after the events of Book 4, life has settled into a relative mundanity. Nathaniel oversees the territory, and Achaicus and others help as needed. Eric, with Charles' help, continue to investigate phenomena around the North American continent. Fae culture continues to evolve under Nathaniel's ruling. For the most part, life is good.
That begins to change when some new characters all find themselves at the Dunkel castle. Some are there to escape expectations, some are there out of boredom, and others arrive out of misfortune. Which of course means that he’s the prophesied Hero of Destiny, and has to go on a cross-continental quest to save the world from the Overlord, a Deity of pure evil even the God of Time (his grandfather???) couldn’t defeat.
From freeing Divine Beasts, communing with the dead, unlocking secrets about himself he never would have dreamed of, and rediscovering his family, Lloyd has a lot to do, and all on a time limit.

Sir Gideon of Drearburh was raised to be a footsoldier, not a knight. She is, however, the closest thing to a knight that the Kingdom of Hadea can muster. Her liege, Princess Harrowhark, wishes to join the High King's court that she might seek aide for her people in their ongoing famine. Sir Gideon never wants to return to Hadea again. If Gideon places well in the games, both their needs shall be served. Unfortunately Sir Gideon can barely ride a horse.
Sir Naberius of Ida, in contrast, is a veteran of the tournament circuit. He is certain to place highly. Or, at least *he* thinks so. And he is quite happy to be forever 23.
Both Gideon and Naberius ought to know by now that magic always comes at a price.
