Summary
After the short, but entirely vicious, war between Piltover and Zaun ends, the winning side sees the losers as a problem, a resource, and most of all, as a commodity.
They extend their beneficence to the lawless denizens, and bring them under their wing. The poor wretches should be grateful for their magnanimity.
Jayce has been looking for his lab partner for some time, concerned that he might have fallen into the wrong hands. Obviously, the only right hands are his, and he will brook no other laying a finger on him.
Viktor is just trying to navigate this new and horrifying situation, but surely Jayce will come to help him. Right?

Summary
Amidst the war efforts against invasion by Ambessa Medarda, Jayce goes missing. He finds himself below in the locked down leftovers of Zaun, finding someone he thought long gone, accompanied by one of the last thought-to-be-dead people he would've expected.
Viktor, the unusual mage healer and leader of The Commune, unexpectedly has his past unrequited love dropped on his doorstep before him and his De-facto right hand, and he discovers those long buried emotions were not unrequited after all. However...are they enough to convince him to help in the war, when the one thing he's the most afraid of is not Noxus, or Ambessa, or the fall of Piltover; it is in fact, himself.

After meeting Viktor at the Progress Day Gala, Jayce can't seem to get him out of his head. Viktor is undoubtedly his equal in every way—unfathomably brilliant, daringly bold, and fiercely charming. He's also the prettiest person Jayce has ever seen. It should've been easy: Jayce asks him out, Viktor says yes, they get married, etc.
Except the night ended with a lot of smoke and bomb residue, a plethora of questions from everyone attending, and Viktor disappearing back into the Undercity before Jayce can beg him to stay.
Jayce's solution? Track Viktor down, ask him to move in with him, and figure it out from there.
Simple, right?

Summary
Jayce didn't usually bother going to Zaun. The place made his skin crawl. But sometimes, he needed supplies. Sometimes, he couldn't get those supplies from the more regulated merchants of Piltover.
And in Zaun, he crossed paths with a scent that he had spent years of his life trying to forget, and has to follow it to seek whatever clarity there is on the other line. Unfortunately, it's not clarity that he found.
But he found Viktor and that's almost close enough.

Summary
It's March, and Viktor knows he doesn't have long left to live. His friends only know that his health isn't great, but not that he's dying. How could he tell them? What could he possibly say to Jayce? No, better to just keep quiet.
Then the unthinkable happens: Ambessa Medarda, for reasons of her own, offers to fund state-of-the-art surgery for him, and suddenly the preciousness of hope dangles enticingly in front of him.
“Viktor?” Jayce’s one word question actually means: excuse me? What? Que? Please explain your outlandish comment?
“I need some time off. Just for a bit. Probably. Then I will be back. Also probably.”
“Probably?” What does that mean? ‘Probably’? That sounds incredibly suspicious. “I need more information.”
What Viktor says next, and in the same tone he uses for what coffee do you want? knocks Jayce for six.
“I am having possibly life-saving surgery, and then I need time to recover.”
Jayce doesn’t so much sit down, as fall backwards. Fortunately his desk is right behind him, otherwise Jayce would be but a sad flesh puddle on the floor. He runs that bewildering sentence back through his mind, trying to sift out the meaning.

“Rough day?” Jayce heard a low but youthful-sounding voice to his right.
“More like a rough year,” Jayce muttered into his glass before finishing the last of his whiskey in one clean swallow.
He turned toward the speaker.
Sitting beside him was… a boy. If Jayce had to pick a single word to describe him, it would be angelic.
His gaze traveled upward, to the long, elegant neck adorned with a black ribbon choker, a delicate silver heart resting at the center. Jayce had several deeply inappropriate thoughts about that ribbon in under three seconds.
And then he reached the boy’s face. It was beautiful. Unfairly beautiful.
Full lips, slightly parted. A beauty mark above them. Another under one eye. And those eyes, sharp, bright, golden. They reminded him of Millie’s eyes.

“Don’t worry.” Jayce said in the midst of a loud and obnoxious yawn, breaking the silence that had fallen in the room.
“It was a good dream.” Jayce reassured the ‘dream’ Viktor, before finally shutting his eyes for good, and he was back to sleep once more, as if nothing had happened at all.

Their bond is tested as they come face to face with losing what they both want most in the world, and fear its too late when Viktor fuses with the hexcore and Jayce is tasked with the job of killing him. He believes he will fail. But he gets help from the only person who would be able to give him the strength he needs to do the impossible.
