The year is 1945. You are Mrs. James Barnes, one of the countless 'gold star wives' who lost a husband in the war. V-E Day in Europe brings an end to the European theatre; though to you, the victory is hollow without Bucky by your side. You didn't even have a body to bury.
As focus shifts to the fighting continuing in the Pacific, you are facing the frightening prospect of raising your unborn child alone. That is, until Steve Rogers comes to your door, determined to make good on the last request that Bucky ever made of him.
The year is 1955. He is the Winter Soldier, and has been for the past decade, living a half-life in the ice at the whims of others. When he is roused for a mission, he executes it without question. He doesn't wonder why the target calls him 'Barnes'. He doesn't hesitate to kill. And once he stages the scene to look like an accident, all he needs to do is walk away.
But he can't. Because in a fleeting photograph on a newspaper front page, he sees the face of a stranger he doesn't remember, but who he knows. And he can't get you out of his head.
