평범한 날이었다. 테크노는 평소와 비슷한 시간에 일어나서, 거북이들 상태를 확인하고, 늑대들도 한번 들여다보았다. 평소와 다른 점이라면, 테크노가 뜬금없이 북극곰 스티브를 껴안고 싶다는 충동에 휘말렸고, 생각보다는 뻣뻣한 그 하얀 털에 고개를 묻고 있으니, 벗어나고 싶지 않다는 마음을 품었다는 것 정도. 테크노는 난데없이 주인에게 붙잡힌 스티브가 불편하다는 듯 웅얼거리는 소리를 낼 즈음에야 한숨 푹 내쉬며 꾸역꾸역 몸을 일으켰다. 늑대들이 평소보다 조금 칭얼거리듯 다리에 달라붙고, 칼이 평소보다 약간 예민했으며, 거북이들이 이상하리만치 물 밖으로 나오지 않았다는 점만 제외한다면, 이상할 것 없는 하루였다.

Summary
It was an ordinary day. Techno woke at his usual time, checked on the turtles and the wolves. The only difference was a sudden, overwhelming urge to hug Steve, his polar bear—and once he'd buried his face in that unexpectedly stiff white fur, he found he didn't want to let go. He finally pulled himself away with a deep sigh when Steve began to grumble, clearly uncomfortable with being grabbed without warning. The wolves clung to his legs more than usual. Carl was unusually touchy. The turtles refused to surface. Aside from that, it was a day like any other.
Or: Techno loves Phil. Till the end of his life.

Philza struggled to keep standing straight, dizzy from blood loss, a white-knuckle grip on his sword.
“I have heard much of you, emperor Philza, and I have respect for you. Therefore, I’ll offer you a deal. You will surrender. You will kneel before me, right here, right now, and beg for mercy. Then I’ll take you to the Nether with me, and you’ll become my prisoner, slave, and personal servant. Or-”
The Blood God raised his netherite blade, pointing the tip straight at Philza’s heart.
“-I will allow you to die with a sword in your hand, and once you’re dead, I will slaughter your children.”
Philza fell to his knees without hesitation.

Philza had been prepared for a lot of things when he was taken as a war prize: the loss of his basic freedom, the heartbreak of being separated from his sons, the indignity of being reduced into the piglin king’s “pet”.
What he hadn’t been expecting was for the man behind the blood-stained mask to be soft-spoken, or good-natured, or tired from the weight of his crown.

It’s not exactly proper bedside manner, but right now, it’s just the two of them, and neither of them care. “All traces of whatever it was possessing him are gone,” she answers slowly after taking a deep drag. “It’s him, alright. But you knew that already.”
