"I assure you, my shoulder is anything but cold." Spock straightened out his shirt and turned to face his new teammate at last.
This Kirk, this person who was going to replace his captain of five years, grinned and held out his hand to shake. "Hey, Spock. Name's Jim Kirk. You have a first name, or-"
"Mr. Spock is just fine." He folded his hands behind his back, closing off the greeting before it even began. Kirk slowly let his hand fall back to his side, along with that grin he seemed so confident in. A small part of Spock was proud he was the cause of it.
Pike's eyes went between the two. He looked down, nodded, and hummed. "Well, this is already off to a great start."
