This is what I would like to think happened after Season 8 (MAJOR SPOILERS IN THIS FIC). It starts off a month after they fix the universe and Lance is still struggling. I will be following the gist of canon events but I may change some things about the one-year anniversary and life after, but I will keep it as close as I feel the need to. Everyone just wants to figure out who they are and where they fit in the grand scheme of things. For Keith and Lance, it meant trying to figure out how they fit together while also being accepted as who they were individually. For Pidge, this means accepting things she never thought would happen. For Hunk, this meant figuring out how balancing taking care of others and himself. For Shiro it meant trying to accept that he’s not what he thought. For Allura and Coran, it meant trying to keep up with these very confusing humans.

"You look like you could use a hug."
Lance averted his eyes, and his voice was suddenly quiet. It wasn’t like Keith hadn’t hugged Lance before – it just had never been a deliberate choice, but more something that happened out of instinct.
Like when they’ve won a battle against an especially tough Galra fleet, and they flung into each other’s arms in the heat of the moment. Or when one of them fell out of a healing pod, disoriented and sleep-induced, and the other one was already there to catch him.
Never like this – an offer, sounding almost like a question, as if Keith could turn him down with nothing more than a scoff. But Keith was a weak man, and he knew he’d regret it later, when there would be the phantom weight of Lance’s body against his own, the lingering smell of his shampoo in his nose, and the knowledge of how the blue paladin would feel in his arms.
His heart betrayed his mind.
