Summary

“They’re a bit, uh…” Scar gestures, fingers moving along an imaginary path as if he's touching the wings himself. Grian does not imagine it. “Unkempt?”
The word rolls around his brain, like a cherry beneath his tongue. Unkempt. It tastes like nothing, but the tension does not leave his body, even as his hand robotically takes the towel out of his hair. He wrings it between his fingers absently, twisting and turning without reason.
Oblivious to the mood shift, Scar marches on: “Do you not clean them in the shower? They don’t look wet at all.”
“No, uh—it’s separate. Usually.” Grian takes a deep breath. Wills himself to believe that Scar wasn’t intentionally trying to bruise his pride. “It takes a long time to clean them by hand, and if I were to do it in the shower, all that water would be wasted, not to mention the feathers themselves all becoming heavy when soaked.”
“Could I help?”

Doc stood and gave a quiet thumbs-up. “I’ll stay with Tango and Zooma. You two do what you need.”
Tango waved. “I made Joel a pillow fort!”
Zooma clapped sleepily from inside it, paci still in, slime charm wiggling.
