After being called to King of Spades' throne room at the most inconvenient time, he is assigned to take care of his son. Despite having no experience with children, he complies to avoid losing his job... or rather, jobs. Even with his limited knowledge of children, he begins to understand that a lot of what the King does is wrong.
Yet, through his time with Lancer, he notices something off about the child. He doesn't share the same spark that many other children do. He notices when his words go unnoticed; when someone doesn't want him there; gets excited when he's given the chance to learn something new; he's eager to help, even with work that would seem boring if it means spending time with someone.
