Summary
The only thing standing between Sirius and Remus's retirement from the CIA is signed retirement papers. They have given the agency their all but they are tired and ready to move on to the next phase of their life. Things change though when Harry Potter returns from the field with intel on a terrorist they've been tracking for a decade: Tom Riddle.
Now they have to make a choice: Sign those papers and leave, or agree to one last mission to take out Riddle for good.

"A house by the sea. Just what they needed. The fear and anxiety left over from the war evaporated as Remus and Sirius looked out the window of the bedroom that would be theirs and saw the water lapping at the shore.
Of course it was far from London and Harry and anywhere else they'd lived. But that's what the fireplace was for. And apparating.
The sea called to them, cleansing the horrors they'd been through for so many years.
Sirius stood next to Remus with his arm around him. They looked at each other and nodded
"We'll take it."

“Ilya,” he said, the name escaping like an exhale. He had so much to say. So many things that needed fixing. So many apologies he owed him.

“I’ll go.”

“I would like to see you try,” he said, while Shane pretended he was invisible.
“Then keep being a dick on this airplane,” he said, and fuck, that got another look.
“You might fit in one,” Ilya went on, thoughtfully looking into the compartment. “Since you are pocket-sized.”
“We’re about to be on a plane flight together for eight hours and this is how you kick things off?”
“You are stuck with me for much longer than that,” Ilya said, and kissed Shane on the cheek.

Summary
Weeks after Montreal lost to Ottawa in the first round of the playoffs, Shane Hollander is now officially an unrestricted free agent, and his agent, Farah Jalali, is negotiating with Ottawa. While Shane and Ilya anxiously wait for an update from Farah at their cottage, Ilya tries to find a way to destress Shane.
But when Farah finally brings Shane the news, it's not quite the news Shane was hoping for, and Shane has to decide whether to take the contract, or look elsewhere, even if that means throwing away the chance to play with Ilya.
This is an imagined scene that takes place between Chapters 38 and 39 in The Long Game. Obvious spoilers for TLG!!!!
