Almost as soon as the words left his mouth, Tommy felt the hair on his arms and neck stand on end.
Golden light cut through the air in front of Tommy, the rift persisted only long enough for a familiar deceptively human looking girl to step out of it, "That is literally the stupidest thing you have ever said," Drista insulted without a moment's hesitation.

Mikey grabbed Tommy's dishes, "I think I know just the way to change your opinion on us Americans.” He dumped the dishes carelessly into the sink.
Tommy peered through the bangs that had fallen over his eyes to look at Mikey, “Really?” He asked doubtfully.
Mikey clapped his hands together with a big nod, “Mhm! Come on, you’re gonna love it.”

Nothing else was said as Wilbur slipped his hands into his coat pockets and started walking away without so much as a ‘goodbye’ to Tommy.
Tommy was forced to watch Wilbur’s retreating back as soul crushing loss carved deep grooves into his heart. Wilbur left, and with him he took every single warm and reassuring memory Tommy had ever shared with his older brother.
Tommy opened his eyes to darkness and the heavy weight of something sad coiled in his chest.
A feeling that refused to go away even after Tommy had pulled out Wilbur's book with a shaky hand to prove to himself that it was just a shitty dream.

Preoccupied with musing over what the ideal breakfast would be, Tommy didn't notice the stranger until she was already throwing a kick his way.
Tommy jumped back in the nick of time, feeling a rush of air go past his face.
A sword was in Tommy’s hand a moment later as he lunged forward to return the favour.
He didn't know who this lady was, but she was human and she was obviously hostile. Based on the bits of information Tommy had gathered about this world, it wasn't too hard to fill in the gaps.
She was an enemy of the turtles and their father. And this was far from her first fight.

Donnie spun around in his swivel chair, something that looked like a metal pen in his hand. He looked even nerdier than usual with his goggles pulled down over his eyes.
"Uhhh, what are you doing in my lab?" Donnie questioned, accusatory and suspicious.
Tommy grinned exaggeratedly, "Whaaat? I can't just stop by to bring some snacks to my best friend?" He held out the platter of artfully arranged snacks.
"Mikey set you up to this," Donnie deadpanned.
"Yep."
AKA, Tommy and Donnie continue to be incredibly antagonistic and everyone else is getting real sick of their shit.

Summary
Donnie's attention was momentarily captured by Leo walking back to the dumpster, stopping by Tommy’s abandoned shoes.
Curiosity flickered, Donnie took a step forward, head tilted, "Leo? Did you find something?"
The question garnered Mikey’s and Raph's attention as well, all watching and waiting for Leo's answer.
"Yeah-" Leo's hands clenched into fists, "-and I think I found the answer to Raph's question too." He was glaring at something on the ground.
Donnie followed his brother's line of sight and, ah.
A dead oozesquito lied half hidden under the dumpster bin. Only the smallest amount of neon green remained in its buggy corpse.
Understanding shifted into place. The only obvious answer to this sudden anomaly of a kidnapping.
Tommy was a mutant.
AKA, Donnie fucked up and is forced to embark on a rescue mission to save Tommy from Big Mama. Meanwhile, Tommy beats people up in the Battle Nexus and learns a few things about the world.

Summary
Healing potions might not have been on the table anymore thanks to this bullshit world not having access to the goddamn Nether dimension, but at least the drugs were pretty effective at numbing Tommy's pain.
It had only been an hour or so tops since being rescued from the Battle Nexus and subsequently hit with the bedrest order, courtesy of Leo. Not that Tommy would have been willing to make the jump down from his medbay cot regardless.
He had a fractured rib, and while he was usually plenty impulsive, he wasn't stupid. Even from such a small height, that kind of impact would be hell on Tommy’s current injuries. No amount of wicked sick drugs would change that.
AKA, Tommy endures his recovery arc, causing problems only semi-on purpose the whole time.

Every stretch of silence is another opportunity for thoughts about Tubbo's reaction to his letter to creep in and all Tommy wants is to stop thinking for a little bit. And what better way to distract himself than to run away for a few days?
