Starting from their first meeting, this story mixes canon events with my own to dive into V and River’s relationship — what makes it work, what makes it complicated, and all the moments in between. It fills in gaps, expands on scenes that deserved more time, and leans into the push and pull that comes with a merc and a cop getting too close.
Basically, this is for anyone who can’t get enough of River and V and wants to linger in their world a little longer, but also make their relationship more fleshed out and real <3

Set in the aftermath of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, V is a mercenary running out of time, options, and any reason to keep playing by someone else’s rules. The Relic is slowly killing her, and survival once again comes wrapped in conditions.
Drawn into the orbit of the Federal Intelligence Agency and President Rosalind Myers, V is sent into Dogtown to recover Songbird under the familiar pretense of possible salvation. Nothing is guaranteed. Nothing ever is.
When V realizes how easily she can be sacrificed and how expendable she has always been, she makes a calculated, irreversible decision. She betrays them.
Instead, she turns to Dogtown, a district ruled by Kurt Hansen, a warlord and former Militech colonel whose honesty is as brutal as it is rare in Night City. V does not believe Hansen is good. She believes he is effective. And for the first time, that feels safer than promises from people who already consider her dead.

Jackie himself is eventually turned in the wake of the heist and sets out to help V find a solution to the Relic stuck in her head afterwards. In the meanwhile, neither are happy about the ride-along, Johnny Silverhand, while Jackie struggles to manage and accept his new state of being.

V has been living in Night City since she has any memories, probably one of the worst places a kid can be in, but they have Leo. The big kid named Leo takes care of all the kids in the streets, fortunate for the kids who were dying from undercare, but unfortunate for Leo, who were suppose to live his life unworried. V can never understand why Leo does so, but she's not leaving him suffer, cause she used to be one of those kids before.
