when he had paused, the conversation was continued by the boy who was once sad, "i don't like taylor swift." which was an obvious lie, all you needed to do was take a listen to the sounds that rippled throughout the room and you would unmistakably see what he was.
"you're listening to her right now, love." john countered, his lips curving up into a soft, and fond smile, which also had affect on his eyes. he smiled broadly, with both his eyes and his face. proceeding to scan sherlock's face for any signs of fed up, he realised that there wasn't. he loved the fact somebody didn't mind him talking.
and he also loved the fact that sherlock continued the talking, "because of the lyrics. you need to listen to them to understand the significance and what they mean. just listen." his hands hovered over to the cd player, the tortured poets department was ejected, as sherlock pushed it back in to be able to play from the first track.

For the prompt:
John almost dies because Sherlock runs off with John after a killer without first informing Lestrade where they where going and why. A guilt ridden Sherlock who is not use to caring and is a having a hard time dealing with feeling guilt for the first time in his life, ask John to take charge. Sherlock agrees not to do anything without Johns approval and to do whatever John tells him to.
Not knowing how long this will last, John takes the opportunity to make sure Sherlock takes care of himself and to teach him some basic social skills/manners. Sherlock rebels but he did promise and a promise is a promise.

He hadn’t known. How could he? There had only been two of them on the roof that day, and he hadn’t been aware of the wire that had been feeding back his words to the sniper that sat on the roof opposite with his aim centred on John. A flash of pain washed over him as the knife cut through skin, deep enough to leave a nasty scar in its path and Sherlock hissed through his teeth and tried to keep silent. The man towering over his suspended form was tall, strong and ruthless with the blade that was decorating Sherlock’s back with what he had called his ‘masterpiece in the making’, and Sherlock could only bite down on the dirty piece of cloth that had been tied around his head in a makeshift gag. The blade swiped down what felt like the entire length of his back in one agonisingly slow move, and Sherlock couldn’t stop the tears that sprang to his eyes and dripped to merge with the blood on the floor below him.
