Scattered and lying low, Arthur and the few lingering members of the Van der Linde gang found themselves marooned in a small desert town where they pass the time posing as new ranch hands for Geddes and drinking bad beer at a dive bar. But what wills the jaded outlaw to the shit hole of a bar each week is the leggy twenty something year old bartender with dark hair and piercing eyes.
Charles coaxes Arthur into doing a simple transport job over the boarder for some quick cash while they wait for further instructions from Dutch. But nothing is ever "simple" in Arthur's life when it comes to crime. Things get even more complicated when the gang finds themselves in a local war between rivaling ranch hands.
The only thing that keeps Arthur from heading out of this dust bowl of a town is the prospect of catching the eye of the young and too eager bartender who holds a past of his own. Despite being a family man and off limits, Arthur would risk anything to keep the attention of the brash bartender with the rough voice and the pretty smile.
Calamity ensues soon enough but for that face, Arthur will say it was all worth it.

A real company of the supposed year-old age that Lisbon Royal was meant to be couldn't have answered the questions which they had prepared for meticulously, such was the details to their story. Positively neurotic. Dutch feared a touch insensitive, too. He would have his mentor no other way. They left for Kettering starving mind and body from the overthinking, cotton suits carefully folded in their cleanest saddlebags.

Summary
Dutch has become caught up in his outlandish plans once again, which is nothing new to Hosea. Except for this time, it involves an unruly teen.
And Hosea is not happy.
Although, he'll soon discover that maybe the boy isn't all that he seems.
This story follows the gang and includes events that happened pre-game. It was originally going to be a series of one-shots but grew into a character study of sorts. The gang has been through its fair share of heartbreak, but there was also a lot of good in the past.

Summary
The bank robbery wasn't supposed to go like this. With any luck, they would have been in and out in five minutes or less, but that had not been the case. The bullet had been meant to kill; it had hit him in the chest so close to his heart, and yet Hosea Matthews survived by some stroke of a miracle.
With the Pinkertons on their asses and new threats on the horizon, the Van Der Linde gang will stop at nothing to finally reach their goals, but will they ever find their freedom?

“Very prepared man, aren’t you?” Arthur asked, looking into Charles’ brown eyes. Looking at him felt the same as that very night. Calm, quiet, gentle, warm.
A warm breeze passed over the pair of men as they looked at one another. Charles nodded, walking to Taima and securing his bedroll to the saddle.
“Would you…” Charles started softly, weakly. “Would you like to go hunting with me?”
Arthur thought for a moment. “I wouldn’t mind.”
It was what he needed, really. Some real time away from camp. Charles wasn’t bad company. -

Hosea took a deep breath, the fresh air crisper up here than back at Horseshoe Overlook, beautiful as it was. From the top of the hill, Hosea could see the sun sparkling off Iron lake, the distant, snowy peaks of the West Grizzlies, and much closer, a herd of bison slowly grazing below. It was a bit of a ride to get here, but by God was it worth it.

Javier gets along with most of the gang. Most. There’s a thorn in his side called John Marston, always picking at his patience and his nerves.
Their mutual dislike is hard to miss and they get taken on adventures where they have to rely on each other to make it because what is that concept? Coming together under shared trauma.
They guess that’s their fate - sharing trauma and finding out the hard way that they’re not so different after all.
