Sarah Whitman is a terrified new foster parent beginning her relationship with James Malone, a painfully quiet and reserved seventeen year old boy. While Sarah struggles to find a balance in her new life, James grapples with the truths of his past and the lies he built his future upon. Sarah knows there's a lot James isn't telling her, but hiding the monsters under his bed has a toll. As the nightmares progress and the stories start to misalign, Sarah is forced to question how much she really knows what happened on February 13th, the night James' father had committed suicide. When she begins to suspect that there is more to the death of James's father than what is written on the police report, Sarah learns that she needs to conduct her own murder investigation; this time, however, inside her own home with a broken young boy that she is starting to love.
