Lex died years ago but Lena still moves to National City, just a year earlier than canon. Because Lena's life is never threatened, she never directly interacts with Supergirl. When Sam and Alex get engaged, Lena has a few encounters with Kara, but at that point, Kara is just another name among the family of Sam's fiancé. Lena also was married to Andrea Rojas and had a daughter but Andrea left Lena for another woman.
In this alternate universe, Kryptonians are just a tiny bit different too. They react with pheromones to those they are strongly attracted to. Fortunately, only about 1 in 10,000 humans can sense them. But what happens, as Alex's and Sam's wedding closes in, a wedding where Kara is Alex's "best person" and Lena is Sam's Maid of Honor and they're thrown together for a weekend? What happens when Kara really finally "sees" Lena as a person and realizes she is single? What happens to Lena's perspective when Kara suddenly isn't just "Alex's sister"?
I'm going to go much slower with this, posting about once a week. Three chapters are written already. There could be 15+ chapters total and these are longer than my usual chapters coming in at 2500-3000 words per chapter versus 1000-1500.

Lena didn't fear much, not anymore at least. Lena also didn't live under a rock, she had heard what was going down in the city, the disaster, Supergirl turning against the very people that she used to protect. Heroes don't just go to bed and wake up deciding they want to be bad.
Lena's eyes locked onto the watch that hugged her wrist firmly. An idea, stupid yes, careless for her own life even, but just maybe she could reach the hero, Not like she knew Supergirl on that level, but they have worked together more than once.
She quickly swallowed down any hesitation that could be felt in her throat. With not a single drop of hesitation left, Lena opens the watch, a symbol, the same crest that Supergirl wore on her chest. Lightly, pressing her finger down onto the button that would call Supergirl to her location,
It was for emergencies; however, this was emergency enough. Lena closed her eyes tight, leaning back, a slight creak in the chair she sat in. There was no time to even take a deep breath and understand what she might have just done.

When Lena shows Kara the promo video for L-Corp's new alien shelter, Kara spots a familiar figure passing by in the background and immediately recognizes her aunt. She convinces Lena to bring her to the secret shelter, her best friend still not knowing Kara is Supergirl or even an alien, and when Astra demands to know why Lena brought a human there Kara's worst fear is confirmed- her aunt hates her after all. She can't contain her grief for long and flees.
Astra encounters a very... oddly behaving human whose passing similarities to her lost little one annoy her immediately. The blonde apologizes to her for some reason and gives her a trinket before vanishing, and when she looks to see what the strange woman handed her it's... oh Rao, no. That was her lost little one.
Where has she gone, and why did the person she had called sound so worried?

I wanted to do a season 5 rewrite, but also really dive into Lena's alcohol use and mental health after all of the trauma she has had. It picks up right after she kills Lex, but what if she blamed herself for Kara lying and not Kara? And then it sent her into a mental health crisis that forces her to deal with all of her "little boxes". It will have a happy ending but it will be a ride to get there.

“Krypto,” Lena says groggily. “Krypto, go.” She gulps, but her mouth is dry. Lena tries to strengthen her voice into more of a command, but she isn’t very successful. “Run!”
Krypto is barking incessantly. He’s a good ten feet ahead but doesn’t dare run back to his owner.
Lena can feel the looming presence above her. She doesn’t have to look to know. “Krypto!” she loudly states with more authority than she feels. “Release! Find her! Run!”
A shoe comes into her periphery. That annoying whistle fills her ears. That whistle that Lena spent hundreds of hours deconditioning Krypto from obeying. She keeps her eyes on her beloved pet. She smiles when Krypto looks at her with such emotion, almost like regret. The barks turn into whines as he backs away from the scene. Finally, finally, Krypto runs.
