Since the moment Luz ran away from everything she knew, Eda has been there. She’s her teacher, her protector, the only adult in her life she can really trust.
Luz is growing up faster than she ever wanted. It’s hard to stay a kid when you’re fighting an evil emperor and trying to get back home. And luckily, Eda understands. Eda doesn’t push her away once things get hard, like her mom did. She doesn’t tell her she’s too immature to be an adult. She actually listens. And what’s worse (or maybe better?) is that Eda actually LIKES her the way she is now.
Maybe a little too much.
("Reaching Out" until the end of S3, but Eda and Luz develop an unhealthy relationship. Eda is selfish, lacks self control, and is grooming Luz in an unintentional but harmful way, and Luz romanticizes the situation to cope)

Eda finds herself on an unknown island inhabited only by a pair of unidentifiable demon children. With some insistence from a certain bird brain, she brings the two into her home. Unknown to her, one is an infant Titan, and the other is a deeply scarred, traumatized "child from the stars" troubled by their past actions and unable to address it. Between stories, playtime and scamming the masses, Eda tries piecing together the kids' story without directly asking anything and helping her new, traumatized ward adjust back to life and with their past while trying to ignore her own.

What if the portal to the human realm wasn’t the reason Belos wanted to capture Eda. Instead, Belos wanted to study the Owl Beast itself as a way to potentially enhance his own coven's scouts, much the way the basilisks were resurrected to study how they drained magic. Also the emperor's coven is basically a cult.
It's curious how a shift to the villain's goals can dramatically change the story.
Picks up at and is canon divergent after Agony of a Witch.
Rated teen due to canon typical violence, darker themes, and a few sporadic scenes on that mention blood.
Taking a couple weeks break while I recover from a car accident and deal with the insurance fallout. I'm okay <3 New update on or before 6/30.

Edalyn “Eda” Clawthorne was one of the most well known criminals on the Boiling Isles. She was a practitioner of the forbidden Wild Magicks, one hunted by the Emperor, scorned by the common folk, and disparaged by family. She had a reputation, many names she went by - the Owl Lady, the Wild One, the True Wild Witch.
Few knew she wasn’t the only one living out in the forests. It was only when Luz Clawthorne reached the age of ten that her existence became known, as that was when she enrolled in Hexside and started to make a name for herself. When the truth was revealed, Eda’s previous reputation slowly began to unravel.
It rekindled into something new, painting a picture of a widowed mother to two children, willing to do whatever she must to keep them safe. Over the six years that followed, the world around them began to change in ways they never could’ve expected, and it was all centered around the half-human Daughter of the Wild One.
