AU in which Hunter is forced to wear a magic collar to show his loyalty and bind him to Belos's side physically as well as psychologically. Hard to deny you were the Emperor's lapdog when you literally still wear his leash.

Since the moment Luz ran away from everything she knew, Eda has been there. She’s her teacher, her protector, the only adult in her life she can really trust.
Luz is growing up faster than she ever wanted. It’s hard to stay a kid when you’re fighting an evil emperor and trying to get back home. And luckily, Eda understands. Eda doesn’t push her away once things get hard, like her mom did. She doesn’t tell her she’s too immature to be an adult. She actually listens. And what’s worse (or maybe better?) is that Eda actually LIKES her the way she is now.

I originally wrote this as part of a larger AU I made with someone else for a roleplay -- basically the Collector gets a concealing stone, new name and a sigil to lower their magic so they can go to school -- but they have an identity crisis and are sent home. Attempts at comfort ensue!

“I have to know,” Hunter said, switching out his casual workout clothes for his Golden Guard armor. The familiarity of it was a strange sort of comfort right now as he fell back into his training. “It’ll be okay, Flap. This isn’t my first stealth op.”

The castle had rules and order, a tight schedule for every resident, and set punishments for failure. The Noceda household had nothing like it—no training in the early morning, no duties derogated to be finished within an impossible timeframe, not even a curfew.
Hunter had no restrictions to think by, no leader to follow. Freedom at last, no need for sleepless nights, fear of failure, or earning his right to live. He should be ecstatic, but instead of a long-sought peace, sleep had more trouble than ever to find him. Fears of this little sanctuary breaking, of reality catching up to him, and of him waking up back in the prison he used to view as a home clung to his galdorstone heart.
Thankfully, he wasn't the only one in the Noceda household in need of reassurance.

Showing weakness was punishable once. But Eda sees through his lies the moment he stumbles through the door half delirious and obviously ill so she forces him to accept her care and comfort.
Hunter learns that being cared for isn’t something he has to earn. It’s something he deserves.
