Armand sets the black cat back down, folding his arms across his chest as he stares at the vintage poster hung over the mantelpiece, likewise featuring a black cat, captioned TRICK OR TREAT. He studies the pumpkin wearing a witch’s hat set in front of that, as well as the matching one at the opposite end of the mantelpiece from the cat figurine, and then swaps the pumpkin in the middle with the cat.
“Stop it!” Sam protests, swatting Armand’s calves with the broom. “Switch them back!”
“You want me to cut out those pennants so you can…do what with them?” Armand asks.
Sam indicates the beads already tacked to the edge of the mantelpiece. “String them up.”
Armand grimaces. “You’re a diplomat’s companion. At least pretend to have the taste.”
“That’s enough, maître,” Sam sighs, whacking Armand’s heels with the broom. “Get out.”

Of fucking course. Sam thinks, the bag on his shoulder slipping and falling to the ground with a loud thunk. He stares at the king sized bed sitting like a bright neon sign in the middle of the room. He can almost hear the pulsed buzzing coming off of it as it blinks "You're severely fucked, mate" in bright red letters.
Rashid lets out a sigh behind him and pushes his own bag off to a corner.
"Well, we couldn't expect a full miracle when it comes to Raglan." The other shrugs, his mouth set into a neutral line. Sam wishes he could dip into his mind and see his thoughts exactly, to see if he was wigged out or just annoyed at Raglan. Probably the latter.

“I had to make everyone think I was still doing my job, didn’t I?” Burton asks, withdrawing his handkerchief. He wipes his face thoroughly.
“You call sitting around these digs watching reality TV a job?” Sam sneers. “Get back to me once you’ve completed multiple undercover—”
“Boys!” Doris shouts, accepting the tissues that Guy hands her from the coffee table. “That’s enough. Who’s going to help me clean up?”
“As your humble host, that’s my job,” Burton says ruefully. “But I’d be most grateful for your help, Ms. Williams,” he admits with a stiff bow.
“Oh, come on,” Doris replies, beckoning wearily. “I’m just Doris. That’s just Guy. That’s just Sam and Rashid.” She sniffs, staring at the bodies.

Daniel can think of plenty of things he’d rather be doing than attending a Talamasca office party. Like getting his tonsils removed via his asshole, for instance.
He isn’t even really sure why he’s there. Well… yeah… he kind of is.
Sure, he’s already paid his dues to the Secret Order. He let them publish "Interview" under their imprint, let them edit the ever-loving shit out of it, let them use him to push their message about this whole Great Conversion thing (Daniel still cringes at the name—it’s a bit too Q-anon for his liking). He doesn’t owe the Talamasca shit, certainly not his presence at a fucking office party in fucking London where it’s cold as balls, and there’s a fucking blizzard blowing up outside.
There’s only one reason he’s bothered staying at least somewhat in their good graces. He let them use him, and now he’s going to use them right back. Because surely, someone at this fucking off-brand X-files hellhole must have some idea of where his fucking maker is.

“Whatever,” Daniel says with a shrug, letting his fangs drop halfway for effect. “Five second rule.”
Raglan furrows his brow and tilts his head back, like he’s trying to look at Daniel through the bottom half of his bifocals. “Wha—”
Daniel watches in horny delight as Armand slinks up behind Raglan.
“My boyfriend says hi, by the way."

That’ll look great won’t it. Daniel losing his cool and murdering an agent, right in the middle of their Christmas party. They’ll have him tranqued and in iron headgear in no time. He’ll probably get sentenced to one of those vampire breeding facilities he’s heard rumors about. Forced to make hundreds more vamps. He can’t do that! He’s only a baby himself!
And then the weirdest thing happens. Well, not the weirdest thing. Let’s face it. He’s seen a lot of weird things since he accepted that invitation to Dubai two years ago. In fact, he’s seen this particular weird thing happen before. And he knows exactly who the weird guy is that tends to do it.
