“FUCK OFF!! LET ME GO!!!” Chuuya threw his head back and kept screaming on the hospital bed fought hard against the hands restraining him. The Port Mafia’s doctors and nurses —and Dazai, who was trying to keep him from using his ability, everyone was trying to calm Chuuya down. “DON’T YOU TOUCH ME, YOU SONS OF BITCHES! I SAID LET ME GO!!—”
He and Dazai had been sent on a special mission for the Port Mafia, and things went horribly wrong. As a result, Chuuya was raped and held captive by the enemies for three days. After the mafia team rescued Chuuya they took him to the Port Mafia hospital. He was in Mori’s medical ward. During the twenty-four hours he’d been in the ward, Chuuya had attempted suicide several times.

“BRING THE SEDATIVE!” Dazai ordered in a cold, cutting voice, as if issuing a single command rather than shouting. Intervention was necessary; the crisis had to be brought under control or Chuuya’s body would suffer more damage.

"Making plans as always, huh?" Dazai’s voice slithered out of the darkness. His bandaged hands were buried in the pockets of his black trousers, and as he descended the stairs with deliberate slowness, the glint in his eyes was nothing short of devilish delight.
"That voice..." Chuuya, chained to the wall with his arms shackled on both sides, narrowed his eyes the moment he recognized who it belonged to. He clenched his teeth, lifting his head against the weight of the chains as his gaze hardened.
"Beautiful. What a marvelous sight," Dazai finally stopped as he stepped into the light. The curve of his lips sharpened, and with a wide grin plastered across his face, he spoke as he took in his former partner’s pitiful state. "This outshines any ten-billion-yen masterpiece. Don’t you agree, Chuuya?"

Dazai can't take it after Oda dies and leaves the PM and abandons Chuuya. He's sick of Yokohama and Tokyo, it's all too much, he decides to move somewhere far from it all. Sendai, somewhere where nobody wound find him, where he could live a quiet life of love, healing, and forgiveness. He puts all of his anger and sorrows into writing, the one medium which would allow him to feel. He lives his quiet and unbothered life until 4 years later.
Alt title: After Oda's death, Dazai leaves the PM, moves 2 cities away from Yokohama and never ends up going to the ADA.

At first, the Agency only notices that Dazai looks unusually put-together—his coat neater, his vest pressed, his posture calmer—but gradually they realise it isn’t just a change in fashion. His habits, stance, and quiet attentiveness resemble someone who once lived with purpose and responsibility.
The truth surfaces when Ango recognises the resemblance and names Oda, revealing that Dazai’s new appearance echoes a dead man who shaped his moral compass. Dazai himself doesn’t consciously choose this transformation; his body clings to Oda’s presence as a way to survive, to remember, and to honour the standard Oda left behind. In the Agency, Dazai is no longer dressed like someone courting death, but like someone learning how to live—wearing the silhouette of the man who taught him how.

“You’d better not go,” Dazai says, and like the little imp that he is, he gives Ango’s shoulder another jab with his horn. “Without you around, who am I supposed to torment?”
Ango lets out a huff, though there’s no venom behind it. “I have half a mind to exorcise you.”
“Good luck with that!” Dazai pulls back to reveal a mischievous grin. “I was actually deemed Most Difficult to Exorcise by the people of Yokohama. Of course, most of them were hacks with only a tiny bit of supernatural awareness. A genius on your level of sleep deprivation hasn’t been seen in the last three hundred years. You might just stand a ghost of a chance!”
Ango has both a guardian angel and a demon of temptation. It is his infinite misfortune that they get along with each other so well and are now conspiring to make him go to sleep.
(In which Dazai tries to avoid work at every turn, Oda is an enabler, and Ango just wants random supernatural beings to stop invading his personal space.)
