Summary
A couple of months have passed since Ash returned from Kalos. Being at home was nice, but a small errand on Clemont's behalf sends Ash to the Alola region, where he finds himself on the cusp of being thrown into a whirlwind of fate and bullshit, once again. But, his Pokémon have other plans. He's dealt with enough deities and madmen.
Ash Ketchum deserves a change of pace.

Summary
Mandatory volunteer hours sounded stupid to Clemont. Weren't people supposed to volunteer not for credit or reward. Making it mandatory completely threw out the notion of volunteering. Mandatory volunteering is an oxymoron and stupid to Clemont.
Totally not because Clemont would rather keep his head down and do his own thing until he graduates this place and could finally head to college.
He needed to get his hours finished this semester so he could take the robotics course he wanted to take next semester. Unfortunately Clemont really didn't want to do this whole volunteering thing.
Couldn't he just create an invention or something instead of volunteering? Couldn't he do something more productive with his time instead of doing some boring job that wouldn't get him any closer to college so he could become an engineer.
He's not even getting paid for it!
With a sigh, Clemont circles his least worst option. Professor Oak's Ranch.or
Clemont is forced to volunteer at Professor Oak's Ranch, which leads him to becoming friends with Ash, the sports scholarship transfer student. Who also happens to train animals. This leads Clemont to gaining a group of friends, a new hobby, and maybe a crush.Series

Ash never really thought about it; to him, it's perfectly normal, perfectly natural, just the way things are.Apparently that isn't the case for everyone though. Who knew?
Because his friends are good Pokemon trainers. They pay attention to their partners, they try to protect them, they want the best for them, they live and train alongside them (the trainers here in Alola care so much, live in such intense harmony with nature and Pokemon and each other, and it's one of Ash's most favourite things ever-), and Ash would never think otherwise. They're good people, and good trainers.
"I guess I see what you mean," he eventually says, trying not to sound too uncertain, because they still look confused.
"What's the problem, Ash?" Mallow asks, gently so, Bounsweet nuzzling closer to her neck.
Pikachu chirps (it's a mostly-wordless one, a little "cha" that Ash knows is one of reassurance-acknowledgement-don'tworry, a familiar sound-), static sparking from his cheeks as he threads himself over Ash's shoulders.
