Cecil wanted to comply, he truly did. Carlos seemed so desperate and sad and afraid, but it was out of his control. He wished he could speak well enough to apologize.
"Cecil! CECIL!"
And then everything went black.
"Press 4 if you need to report a missing venomous pet," spoke the automated line on the other end of Carlos' phone from its abandoned spot on the wooden floor.
"Press 85 to know the location of Night Vale's newly invisible and non-functioning hospital."
