To watch over her brother, incarnation of their father, to protect his will, perhaps, but most of all to fulfill a promise to himself, to his fallen friends. “Their daughter would live.” So, you could say her destiny was to live, and live she did.
He was born into this world a miracle. He was not a saviour from another world— he was a saviour from this one. His father an outcast, his mother ill and he, an orphan. He had dragged himself through dirt and mud, limb by limb, to rise above and bring the world with him. He had purpose and a dream, and to the lost girl who knew of nothing, not even herself, he was life itself. And so, her destiny became him.

He buried Sin for the sake of Sindria. Now Sinbad is back from the dead—and Ja’far isn’t sure how to reconcile the two versions of the man he once loved. What he does know is that resurrection doesn’t come with immunity, and Sinbad might want to sleep with one eye open. After all, love is complicated. Revenge even more so—and Ja’far still has a few knives with his former king’s name on them.

Hakuryuu realizes that the past isn’t as far away as it seemed, in more ways then one. So while you are undoubtedly the best of it, nothing comes without its opposite. (In this case; while your shining light is a sort of beacon of the best of his person and life, and both of you are happy to see one another; the opposite is blinding trauma and it's resulting trust issues.. ouch.) The past comes with consequences, oftentimes messy bindings that require untangling. For him, and for you.
Or; When Hakuryuu first arrived at Sindria, he was expecting a lot of things. None of his expectations had aligned, however, with reuniting with his childhood friend. Neither of you are the same anymore, and it seems neither is your relationship.

Summary
Just as Judar warned them, the forces of the Organization encroach upon Sindria's shores with the sole objective of the nation's utter annihilation, just as they did in First Sindria, many years ago. For Ja'far, this hits a little too close to home. The tragedy of First Sindria will never happen again under his watch - he has always been dead set on committing every last ounce of strength and skill in his body towards that end.
Unfortunately, for King Sinbad, that is exactly the problem.
