The tree's fruit litter the ground. Black cores, melting into a liquid substance. Golden spheres, quickly losing their tempting shine.
A creature drags it's way from the center of the severed trunk. Taking the form of a skeleton, the last lingering memory the tree can recall. Branches and roots forming long limbs for the creature, ribs of gray wood creating a cage for it's forming Soul.
It's blank sockets turn towards the darkening sky, entranced by the stormy clouds before it. Deep muddled blue igniting in it's no longer empty sockets, the new Soul becoming one of a strange shape. Clouds of thunder rumble in her chest, encouraging her to find her purpose in this new world.
