Aunt Mito finds a stack of papers when tidying up Gon’s room. The handwriting in them is nothing like Gon’s, it’s neater; steadier.
So it has to be Killua’s.
At first she thinks they must be poems, but she catches the words ‘chorus’ and ‘bridge.’
To her surprise and realization, they’re song lyrics. A whole stack of songs written by Killua.
She reads them, curious to know about this young friend her nephew has brought home.
Needless to say, she’s horrified.

On Whale Island, Aunt Mito finds a stack of papers that look to be song lyrics written by her nephew’s new friend. When she reads them, she sees the boy in a new light. The boy must have seen terrible things from a very young age. And some of the words concern her, leaving her worried for the boy’s mental state.
So she plans to get Killua alone and speak to him privately. Turns out, that’s easier said than done.

Killua breathes softly, and Gon peers down. Killua presses closer, nuzzling into his side.

Gon heads over to the box of ornaments, carefully pulls out a velvet box, and opens the lid.
Inside is a handcrafted wooden whale, and Killua peers over, looking at it.
“It symbolizes family and our island! Everyone puts it up! Just below where you put the star.”
Gon gestures to the sparkling star above the tree, and Killua stares in awe.
“Do you wanna put it up, Killua? I’ll lift you up.”
Killua’s lips part, and he looks at the whale.
“M-Me…? Are you sure someone like me should, Gon…?”
Mito walks over and puts her hand on Killua’s shoulder.
“Of course, you should, dear.”

El olor es una característica personal de cada individuo. Dependiendo de tu género secundario —alfa, beta u omega— existía una tendencia notoria a ciertas fragancias o connotaciones. Los olores de las personas se veían fuertemente influenciados por sus feromonas. Dichos olores también eran factores importantes dentro de la sociedad.
En las parejas jóvenes, incluidas esas que aún no eran unidas por marcas, era prácticamente un ritual que poco a poco el olor de ambos se fuera mezclando. Esto era más común en parejas de alfas y omegas.
Dentro de relaciones platónicas esto era raro… por no decir imposible. ¿Mejores amigos oliendo igual? Sí, claro… sólo mejores amigos…

Se habían acostumbrado a compartir. Era una palabra que los perseguía en sus aventuras. Compartían prácticamente todo, comida, tiempo, artilugios valiosos —ya sea una caña de pescar vieja o una patineta de ruedas desgastadas—, incluso llegaron al punto de compartir hasta los pensamientos. Aunque no fueran conscientes de eso.
Dormir en la misma cama no era raro. Era algo que había surgido de forma natural, de la misma forma en la que las flores brotan del suelo y los arcoiris aparecen en cielos húmedos. Ellos no tardaron en acostumbrarse a moldearse uno contra el otro, adaptando una silueta que funcionaba cómo la pieza de un rompecabezas, dónde juntos encajaban a la perfección: extremidades revueltas, abrazos perezosos, patadas por las noches y un calor hogareño por todos lados. Siempre se había sentido natural.
Esa noche en Isla Ballena no fue una excepción, de no ser porque Gon se levantó en medio de la madrugada, sin esperar oir a Killua llorar.
