One very tumultous saturday, I woke up at 6 am after tossing and turning in bed from 9:40 pm to 1:00 am. Eventually I fell asleep, but not without the irrisistible urge to write something. Half the day, I tried to write seriously only for it to become the fanfic version of unseasoned mashed potatoes mixed with an autism special interest and shitty homemade iced coffee. Soon, I realized I was literally never stopping my writing, unless to eat or go to the bathroom. I was frustrated that 5 hours of writing only gave me around 2700 words of unfruitful results.
I was also starting to realize I was acting increasingly manic, but I did not know if it was the coffee, autism focus and sleep deprivation collaborating or if I was in fact having some mental thing (which for the record I doubt). I am still trying to figure out while I write this, because the events I'm discussing are literally unfolding before me.
Then I wrote this delirious clusterfuck, ranging from semi-normal to absolute what the fuck.

“Yes, I think being shot would do to make any living thing bloody.” Wyoming did not voice his appreciation for the A+ comedy Florida brought to the table. What a shame.

Summary
Things are finally settling back down to normal since Cas gave up his grace to cure Dean of the Mark. Well, as normal as their lives are allowed to get. Sam relentlessly finds new cases to work, one right after the other; but Dean thinks they need a break to let Cas have some purely human fun, for once. It’s true they had a difficult time readjusting to humanity at first, but Dean thinks Cas deserves to do more than ride around in the back seat and follow them on monster hunts. Then again, Dean’s a little bit scared to ask exactly what Cas would want, just in case it doesn’t include spending quite so much time with him. And with Sam (of course).
Sam’s been tracking a series of odd occurrences in Laramie, Wyoming for the last few weeks that looks just enough like a case to finally convince Dean they should go check it out. Whether they like it or not, the goddess responsible for the weirdness in Laramie takes an immediate interest in the three less-than-perfectly-happy hunters who’ve stumbled into her town.Series

I don't know how many times I've re-read this fic, but it still hasn't gotten old. I wish this had been canon! Maybe someday I'll get to go to a Supernatural convention and I can't wait to go back to Paris someday again too!

Black scorch marks marred the field, green grass melting into black ash and exposed earth. In the hollow between the two separate areas of singed land laid a man, body curled in on itself, arms wrapped protectively around his being. The man finally seems to breath, move, after long minutes of remaining stagnant. He sits up, a hand brushing through his dirty blond hair as he looks on at his surroundings. He opens his mouth and words die on his lips as he takes in the long, expansive destruction, laid out to his sides in the shape of wings.
In which Castiel's vessel is destroyed and he will be as well if he doesn't take a vessel immediately. Dean would do anything to keep Castiel alive, if if that means having an angel in his mind for an unspecified amount of time.

I have a lot of respect for this author because of how strongly I reacted to certain characters and scenes due to their writing - I would have never guessed that this was their first fanfic. This was a really, really powerful story.
Notes to self (Spoilers): Omg the end of Chapter 01 is so embarrassing, but so funny. In fact, there are a ton of funny sayings throughout this series that the author provides. Words of the day: "bacchanalian"- per Google, "characterized by or given to drunken revelry; riotously drunken" and "dipsomania"- "alcoholism, specifically in a form characterized by intermittent bouts of craving for alcohol." Charlie Bradbury is the most bestest, wonderful friend ever and as of Chapter 04, I want to kick Sam in the nuts. Destiel smut begins in Chapter 07 even though there's smut with Benny in chapters before that. One of the road trips starts in Chapter 09; I'm glad there starts to be some of Cas' POV included in the fic after this too. We mostly learn what happened to Mary in Chapter 11 (but don't get the full story until Chapter 25, 26 & finally 29) and what's wrong with Sam in Chapter 12. Holy shit at the massive bombshell in Chapter 19 and Ellen is such a BAMF in Chapter 20. That being said, Chapters 20-24 gave me anxiety and thank God for Bobby at the beginning of Chapter 23. I also can't freaking stand Lisa (again, kudos to this author's writing) and Chapter 29 further cements the fact that John is a huge freaking POS. The end of the main fic then wraps up with such fluffy hope and happiness - I hope the author will add more timestamps to the series because I keep wanting more and more of this 'verse.

To tie up the loose ends of a hunt, Dean is forced to go undercover and visit Brock Pleasure Ranch, a horrifying establishment that markets its inhabitants to people with ‘monstrous’ tastes.
It should have been a simple thing, to persuade a mer to give him a few scales for a spell. All part of the usual Winchester byline: saving people, hunting things.
But Castiel is far less of a ‘thing’ than Dean expected. He might not be human, but he’s definitely a person.
And that means he needs saving, too.

Awesome fic writer and beautiful/excellent/gorgeous fanart by lizleeships!
This was absolutely wonderful and though I'll always trust this author's judgment, I still really appreciated the reassurance at the beginning that the angst wouldn't prevent a happy ending. Said angst (necessary to the storyline indeed) felt fairly brief for the most part and not hard to read through because of Cas' resilience and Dean's determination to help. Also, Dean actually giving therapy a shot = awesome. I mean, this fic had so, so much Destiel stuff that I love to read: creature Castiel, awesome fanart, sweet (mostly since some of Castiel's recovery was ouch, bless him) hurt/comfort, Dean not being bad at feelings, mental health appreciation, cabins and beaches, magic, soul bonds, Cas' handprint, excellent smut scenes that were truly meaningful...yes. The ending was so happy indeed! KUDOS
